Parque Prado De San Sebastian was a park my twin brother and I passed through on our way to Plaza De España.
A really pleasant park ,well kept, lots of trees to shade from the sun, winding paths and some really good water features, there's quite a few fountain in this park ,its most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the or planning a holiday to Seville.

The park is in an area of Seville where one park runs into another. I'm a fan of all the greenery, but this is just a normal small town park.

On your way to "Plaza de España", you will certainly pass right in front of "Parque Prado de San Sebastián". It is located on the site of the ancient hermitage of San Sebastián, built on the 13th century, which gave the park its name. The area also served as a place for mass burials during the severe epidemics that affected the city, as during the plague that killed over 60,000 Sevillians in 1647. Another curiosity is that at the place of the present statue of "El Cid", on the homonymous avenue, was located one of the pyres of the "Holy Inquisition" in Seville. The very last burning occured in 1781, with the death of the so called "Beata Dolores".

The actual park was inaugurated in 1997, inspired on traditional arab gardens, with geometrical forms and many ponds, fountains and small cascades. On open spaces, surrounded by fantastic palm trees, social and cultural events take place, as the Festival of Nations (that occurs every October). When we visited the park, "Flamenco" classes were taking place on one of its alleys. Enjoy!

We stumbled across the park after leaving the Plaza de Espanya... and found ourselves in the festival of nations. A small replication of the Expos of previous years, it included a dozen or more food "pavilions" including Europe and the Americas. We ate Argentinian sausages and Wurst from Germany. Washed down with a Cuban beer. There's a small market bazaar, selling gifts (and tat) from various countries. Not a bad way to spend an hour or so.
