The highlight of a visit to the Alcazar, its magnificent gardens! Orange trees, palm trees, flowers... mosaics, ceramics, fountains... Peacocks, parakeets, ducks... An incredible walk! And the best, the sound and lights scheduled this spring. Magic !

The gardens of the Alcàzar are an integral part of the obligatory visit to the Castle. A very varied and rich flora especially in the hot seasons. It's also pleasant to spend time inside them, even just walking around.

I suggest visiting the Royal gardens at the end, after you toured the Royal rooms and palace itself. The gardens are spread all around the palaces, there're several types of them and you require around an hour to see them. There's a small kiosk to buy some drinks as well restrooms.

I preferred the gardens to wandering around the rooms in the palace. They are laid out in regular rectangular beds with fine clipped hedges protecting the plants. The tall palms and fountains create a cool and quiet space for walking and contemplation. In October most of the colourful flowers had faded but there was some late bloom from the bouganvillias.
