A busy Plaza , day or night and a good place to sit and enjoy a drink and tapas or brunch, or dinner in the evenings .

This small plaza is the true heart of the Albayzin. At first sight, there isn't much to it. But it is all about the people; this is a neighbourhood with a unique flavour, it feels like a village and acts like one. You could have a coffee in the great Casa Pasteles, or a tapa in the middle of the plaza (bar Aixa is the recommended one out of the two). You can venture to Calle Panaderos or Calle del Agua enjoying the authentic delights in the bakeries or cafés. You could come in the morning to see the small but bustling market (it offers nothing touristy, it is entirely a local market). But whatever you do, what the plaza is all about is stopping, relaxing, and allowing it to fill your senses with the flavours of local life.
Ps: Tuesday nights are not recommended as the bars usually close and the plaza is quiet.

Our apartment was a couple of minutes down from this plaza so it was our main place for breakfast and grocery shopping. There are fruit markets in the mornings (not Sunday and Monday), and just off the plaza there is a little fish market, a wonderful bakery (Panaderia Maria), a supermarket, and a bunch of bars for coffee, drinks, tapas etc. We ate at either Casa Pasteles or Bar Aixa for breakfast before heading out for sightseeing (both really good value). The streets off the plaza offer lots of little food shops and bars too.

During our weeks stay in Granada we walked the city & all its districts! We especially liked this little square with its busy, bustling atmosphere.
There was a small market with just a handful of stalls selling the most gorgeous fresh fruits & vegetables.
A great place to sit & have a drink or a bite to eat & a great place to watch & photo the locals as they went about their daily lives.
A real authentic buzz about the place, we loved it & visited two or three times.
The surrounding narrow streets were lovely to explore & photograph too.

Plaza Larga on market day. Most of the time this plaza has two open air bars but on some mornings there is an open air market. Many of the flowers on the balconies on the Albayzín are bought here.

This plaza is not very big in area but was packed with stalls; all shops fronting the plaza and nearby street were open, a happy atmosphere and tourists greeted with a welcoming smile. We were the only tour group there and after a few words from Paco, our guide, we dispersed for 15 minutes to browse or grab a coffee. I spent 10 minutes trying to negotiate a purchase of a ticket in the Euro millions Lottery to no avail. Time to grab a soft drink and the walk continued.

We loved the vibe in this local square. The breakfast at Bar Aixa, the bakery on the corner, the local market that popped up randomly on some days. Great people-watching spot.

We went there a couple of times during our stay in Grenada to take a drink , eat a few tapas and enjoying to watch how the locals live specially at the end of the day ! There are bars , restaurants and stores nearby and if you are lucky , you could ear some local musicians give a show for a small tip !

The tourist saturation of Granada and the massive issuance of permits to occupy the streets and squares with bar terraces are collapsing some "authentic" spaces in the city. This square is one of those examples. What was an endearing square in a historic neighborhood in Andalusia has today become a vulgar "bolletellodrome" legalized for tourists.
