Don't miss this wonderful show! The music, dancing, singing and acting are all absolutely first rate!
This is unlike any flamenco show I have ever seen. The first half is a flamenco drama based on a poem by Lorca. It's full of passion, art and intensity. After a short break, when the audience is served wine and Sephardic cookies, the mood changes. Antonia and Ivan, and company, entertain the audience with light hearted music, singing and dance. They are truly amazing artists! This show was the highlight of our trip to Granada!

Visiting Granada this fall, we stumbled upon the Palacio Serfardi and bought tickets to the Flamenco Production " Romance de los Olvidados" by Mula Palmero Compañia de Flamenco,
show at the museum. I was totally mesmerized by their interpretation of Lorca's poem Thamar & Amnon. There was stunning choreography by Antonia Mula and incredible music composed by Ivan Palmero on guitar. The company's artists gave a deep sense of cante jondo & expression to the performance. My friends & I took a semi-private class with Antonia, and on the 2nd day, Ivan was so kind to accompany the class. They are superb teachers and artists. On our last night in Granada, we went back to the see the performance again. I loved every minute. Thank you Antonia & Ivan for this beautiful production. If you find yourself in Granada please check out Mula Palmero Compañia de Flamenco en El Palacio de los Olvidados.

A fabulous show and an experience not to be missed. The music, dance and interpretation was stunning. The venue at the Palacio de los Olvidados is intimate and contemplative. We felt lucky to have discovered this gem. We were also lucky enough to have classes with Antonia ... she is a giving, wonderful teacher. She is a passionate bailaora, cantaora and actress extraordinaire. Ivan Palmera is an extraordinary guitarista/composer. We loved the show so much, we went back a second time. You will not see Flamenco like this anywhere else.

I am really not sure that this dance company is still performing at the same theatre where I saw 'Romance de los Olvidados' earlier this year as I think Antonia Mula took the production on tour, but if you get the chance to see this dance company anywhere at all seize the opportunity. I was in Granada for a long weekend over the public holiday and wanted to see flamenco, but not the 'built for tourists' stuff, all frilly frocks and mantillas. I came across an advertisement for 'Romance de los Olvidados' and booked it on spec. The theatre (not at the address noted on this TA page at all, but a tiny bar-cum-theatre called La Alborea Flamenco on Calle Pan) is spartan, a collection of mis-matched chairs and tables, and you might be forgiven for thinking you'd made a mistake, but just be patient because you are in for a real treat. The performance is a complete knockout - a breathtaking, sweaty, exhausting, visceral, emotional display of flamenco dance theatre. It was raw and energetic and had me slack-jawed with wonder. I absolutely loved it. Antonia Mula is a tour de force, but her dance company and musicians provide excellent support to her star turn. Wherever she is right now track her down and see her show. This is flamenco, proper flamenco, and it wrings you emotionally dry. I quite honestly cried at the end it was such an experience.

We were strolling through Granada when we stumbled by chance on the sign "Palacio de Los Olvidados" . Curious about the name asked what the place is about and were told by the charming lady at the entrance that this center holds a show almost every evening. As it happens that same night was the opening night of a play inspired by Garcia Lorca's "Tamar y Amnon" performed by the Mula Plamero Flamenco company. My husband, an avid admirer of Garcia Lorca, convinced me and our 12 year old daughter to join him. Neither I nor she speak Spanish, but I do dance some flamenco so we joined just for the company. We did not regret the decision for a second. This was finally the real thing. Flamenco is an art developed to tell stories- happy and sad stories- but the content determines the music and the dance. And the actors/dancers did exactly that. The quality of the acting and the drama of the dance is such that even if you have only a vague idea of the story you can follow it throughout the show. The dancing was the most professional and most expressive that I have seen in Spain (and we have seen quite a lot). And the best part was that after the show the actors join the audience (no more than 30 people at most), discuss their inspiration for the play/dances and their work. Tourists who are not interested in "showy" flamenco and would rather see true-to-form, traditional, "gut wrenching" flamanco storytelling should not miss this.

Though highly rated by others, I was very disappointed by this rendition of flamenco. Perhaps having seen flamenco in a more down-to-earth out-of-the-way section of Paris spoiled me, but I found this performance overwrought, over-the-top, and not impressively skillful. Yes, dramatic. Yes, not insufferably tourbus oriented. But no, not particularly exciting flamenco. The lead dancer was strong, but she lacked the sense of restrained passions breaking through that makes flamenco so thrilling...and the other two dancers were weak. It felt more like someone stamping incessantly on my head to express their indignation and passion than highly skilled dancing to express a full range of emotion. If you want the real flamenco, you'll want to look elsewhere.

When you enter the room you get the feeling of an almost private atmosphere which is perfect for the flamenco show. The show is not only dancing, but they tell a passionate story while dancing. The performance itself is done with different elements of music, singing and dancing in front of a great setting. The artists are excellent and work on a high professional level. I liked the harmony of music and passionate dancing very much. After 1 hour you are offered wine and tapas. After that a second very interesting performance starts with singing. At the end of the show we were asked on stage and the artists taught us the first steps of flamenco. I liked the show very much, because it is different from others.
If you like something special I would definately recommend the show. Thank you for a great evening!
