Los Tarantos (flamenco show in Granada)

We have booked for a Traditional dinner with a gypsy style show in a small “arched roof” room, like a cave. We had a well prepared 4-course dinner
(Cheese platter + salad + fish + rice pudding), the dinner was served in generous portions. The dance was a slow starting, it took the band too long for the dance to begin. There was less dance than expected. Less fancy dress, than expected.

Amazing show. So much passion from all the performers. The music, even though it was foe me to understand, made me feel so nostalgic. The way they transmit all those feelings is so trippy. Loved it. Would definitely go back!

We booked the full package: hotel pickup, dinner, show, and tour through the Albayzin.

They offer a very nice flamenco show. I'm in no doubt that this is very good and worth the money. The show consists of three or four 'cuadros' with music and dancing. Very nice.

The tour through the Albayzin is about 30 minutes. The take you to an impressive viewpoint and then walk through the narrow streets. Definitely a good appetiser to visit the neighbourhood the morning after.

The pickup service was good: nice driver and well-conditioned bus.

The dinner... Ok. The can do something decent with a local supermarket's packed meat, frozen fish... and things like that. Definitely: the below-average quality of the food cheapens a great show.

Summing up: worth the money... but have dinner somewhere else.

Let me be clear: This show is one of the best flamenco shows I have seen in my life. But the service of this place is terrible. The server was unfriendly, rude, horrible (only one guy for the entire place). When we got there, the place was already full and they tried to separate our group because of this (we contracted the service with transport, so it wasn't our fault about the time of arrival). I had to speak up and make clear we didn't want to be separated but clearly they don't care about customers...only money. They didn't save places for people like us with a reservation made before, on the contrary, they let people of same day to take seats all over the place. Sad, because the performers where amazing.

While it is very interesting to be in the caves made of earth, the Roma or Gypsies used to have the caves and then tourists didn’t feel comfortable so the Gitanos added facades so they don’t look like caves from the outside. One of the dancers was excellent. She was wearing black the night we attended and brought energy and passion. The singer and guitarist were excellent. What ruined some of it for me was a dancer wearing red that continually interrupted her performance telling people not to take pictures with the flash not to take videos and not to clap. She should’ve told everybody the expectations upfront instead of continually interrupting her performance and the performance in general. It killed the mood. She seemed angry and grumpy and distracted. She took away from all that her fellow performers brought to the show. The tourists seemed to annoy her. Wothout the woman in red, it would have been much more enjoyable. Or have a sign that they show saying no flash, no video, no clapping ahead. The dancer in red seemed to hate the audience.

We went for dinner and the flamenco show. In retrospect, I would have skipped the dinner and just attended the show - although it did mean we had a great seat. We were really impressed by the level of music and dancing. Overall a great night out!

This is all about doing as less as possible for the money you spend. It is not authentic, lacks atmosphere and spirit. No connection with the audience at all. They should start at 1030 pm but did at 1040. The guitar player was 10 minutes busy with his guitar and in the meantime not the dancers nor the singer or guitarplayer even looked at the public. They did not introduce themselves to us and even during the show there was no interaction. After 15-20 minutes they all of a sudden stood up and left for a break.... they went outside for a smoke! By then we were so disappointed in this tourist trap that we left. Is has nothing to do with an authentic experience Keep the money in your pocket and look for another experience. This is absolutely not worth it. Disappointing.

Tip: look for Los Olvidados - tablao flamenco. It is 50% cheaper and a great show that is for sure worth your money and time. Many people we spoke were enthusiatic about it. It is also set in a great atmosphere compared to a worn out smelly cave.
