This is a pleasant square with views. However, more importantly, there is a drinks kiosk in the centre which is cheap and efficient. There are stone benches where you and rest along with your coffee.

The Plaza de los Aljibes is located just by the side of the Puerta del Vino. Its a tower over seeing granada. What an amazing site.

This Square of the Cisterns is located next to the Alcazaba fortress.
In the middle of the square is a busy snack stand where we had drinks before entering the cobbled paths of Alcazaba and climbing to several towers.

Right between "Puerta del Vino" and the "Alcabaza" fortress, you will find the "Plaza de los Aljibes", or "Square of the Cisterns", in English. It was named after the 15th century cistens here built by the Nasrid Sultans of Granada. Today, a vast esplanade offers breathtaking views of Granada itself, of the Albayzin quarter and of Sacromonte. Enjoy!

Our tour had a stop here after the visit to the Palace of Carlos V. The square forms a vast esplanade between the towers and the defences of the Alhambra on one side and the Wine Gate (Puerta del Vino), the Arabic palaces and the Palace on the other side. From the square visitors may enjoy marvellous sights of the city, the Albaicin and the Sacromonte.
Hard to imagine the cisterns that once existed here. Enjoy the view.

There once was a gully between the Alcabeza and the Palaces that housed an underground cistern. Today it is a big esplanade between the towers, lying behind the Palace San Carlos V. It separates the palace buildings from the Alcabeza (citadel) and the Plaza de las Armas (military garrison).
Views from here down into the city are very nice.

This square is between the Alcazab and the Nazarene Palace so it allows you to get your bearings - and recover from the long walk uphill from the town centre if you were mad enough to do so in the heat. What is it they say about 'mad dogs and Englishmen'? A nice ice cream booth to rehydrate as well as some stunning views of the city. Arabic architecture gives you a flavour of what is to come.

The square forms a vast esplanade between the towers and the defences of the Alhambra on one side and the Wine Gate the Arabic palaces and the Charles V Palace on the other side ,The cisterns, 34 meters long, 6 meters wide and 8 meters high, later became the current square, when they were buried as well as the surrounding streets and squares.

This large square is between the gateway of Puerta del Vino and Alcazaba entrance. On the day we visited it was like an ocean of calm due to the hordes of bored schoolchildren milling around on the other side of the Puerta. There’s a busy snack stand in the middle and you get good views back towards the main Palace entrance and over the walls down towards Grenada suburbs. The square’s a handy place to take a seat on one of the walls before or after walking up and down the cobbled paths and towers of Alcazaba. Numerous feral cats wander around visitors in the hope of being fed!

Great to photograph in nighttime as well as the daytime. At night very dramatic lighting with all the shades and shadows.
