We were staying at Sol by Melia, just a short walk to get to San Miguel Street. The first time we went, we used the lift (50 cents) very well worth it to get to the top. It really saves your legs and energy needed for the great shopping that you will enjoy up there. The second time, we walked up for that experience, and it is rather difficult in some areas. Here is where I must warn you. Walking up is interesting, but a little dangerous in some of the areas. It seems to be the tiles, shiny and can be a bit slippery. Be careful. It took much longer to get to the top because of that, taking the lift is much safer and quicker. There are plenty of shops, much variety, and lots of choices for eating also. ( I wished there were more jewelry stores, but that's just my personal preference). Overall, a fun and interesting area to be enjoyed if you are holidaying in Torremolinos, Costa Del Sol.

This is considered the main shopping street in Torremolinos , and is a pleasant stroll downwards from the town square towards the beach area with its restaurants and bars. The shops are full of good quality merchandise, with many unusual gift ideas, or mementos. All the shops rigorously applied social distancing, mask wearing and had hand-sanitiser at entrance.

I come here to San Miguel at the start of every visit, to soak up the atmosphere of the upper town. Full of boutique shops of various styles and some good restaurants and bars. The atmosphere simply makes me smile every time.

Calle san miguel is definitely worth a visit. It is a place for all kinds of things from buying food shopping, clothes, jewelery, gifts and so on. Also lots of bars and restaurants. Really busy even in the winter months. This busy street also guides you all the way to the beach 🏖 again well worth a visit.

Calle San Miguel is just like the rest of Torremolinos, Make of it what you want - it's a busy shopping street in a busy seaside town, Some aged sages of the ex-pat community know it as Marks & Spencer Street with reference to the M & S 'St Michael' brand. I generally start my day by walking down from Plaza la Nogalera towards the church of San Miguel to check out the headlines in the UK newspapers in the newsagents/gift shop on the right hand side, And pick up a free copy of Sur in English on Fridays, On a busy morning one's walk can be slowed down as one follows fellow tourists of all nationalities who generally waddle down 4 abreast before stopping abruptly having spotted something interesting in one of the shops and needing to discuss whether or not it is a bargain and whether or not to trust the Spanish. After that on the way back, a short chat with the lady who is busy trying to persuade people to invigorate their tired feet by sitting comfortably and immersing them into a tank full of fish who will happily nibble away at their hard bits. Then into the estanco opposite to stock up the nicotine intake for the day and buy any stamps for postcards which saves time queuing at Correos. Then a swift left back into Plaza la Nogalera and a welcome café con leche at Vanilla. Calle San Miguel should not be dismissed out of hand as if one walks the full length up to Avenida Palma de Mallorca you will be pleasantly surprised at the range of shops offering quality goods and services, Also it is worth exploring the side streets for bargains including The Book Market which stocks hundreds of second hand books where you can buy/sell/exchange your holiday reading from light to more serious tomes, And the staff know their stock and are always willing to assist. You won't find an M&S in San Miguel but check out its shops and others in the town. Torremolinos is no longer a sleepy little fishing village by the sea!

The Calle San Miguel is a really nice shopping area but it is on a very steep hill, really nice going down, but really hard going back up. There is however a lift, It is not accessible by wheel chairs as there are a few steps at the bottom, But for you heavy people like me it will save you a few pints of sweat. At the bottom of the main shopping hill look for the red canopies that come out of the leather shop at the corner opposite the Ship Inn. There is a small white sign on the lamp post. Go up the stairs beside the leather shop and turn left, walk up to the next steps but look to your right and you will see the entrance to the lift. Good Luck.

just come back, nice area for shopping and just having an easy time loads of cafe bars and plenty of shops. BUT !!! there is one shop near the main road at the top called SOUVENIRS OPEL, its sells cameras cd players and that sort of stuff. Keep away from it !!! the guy that owns it is a cheat, a liar and a thief. I returned a nintendo after paying him 100 euros and he asked me to come back in one hour, but he closed the shop from Wednesday till Monday, ( the day of my flight back home). So he has the nintendo and my money. If you like to browse or shop then this is one place you should visit...and for the day. We started our journey at the top of Calle San Miguel. There are plenty of little pastry shops, restaurants/pubs on your way down San Miguel to stop & have a coffee or tea to start. There are so many shops selling absolutely everything you really need a day to see it all. You can find everything from quality high end things - clothes, jewelry etc. to some very good bargains in just about anything you want. Stop at one of the pastry shops for lunch or an outdoor restaurant in one of the squares and listen to a violinist or a tenor in a tuxedo sing. As you are walking down San Miguel make sure to look up and see the bird cages on the balconies with birds singing away. You can also see some of the older Spanish architecture. When you get down to the old church make sure to go down the stairs that wind around until you reach 'the paseo' and the beach.
During our stay of 9 weeks we went down Calle San Miguel at least once a week and always seemed to discover something new.
