We visited the 2nd week of January 2020. This park is situated up a quite a steep hill from the beach promenade which if you do not have any mobility issues should be fine. We were disappointed that the boats on the lake were not open. Also all of the information on the cannons and viewing tower etc was only written in Spanish. There were no cafe's that we noticed to stop for a coffee or beer only depressing vending machines which we do not like to use as you do not know how long the products have been in there! The toilets onsite were spotless. If you are in the area it's worth a visit but as per the title it could be so much better!

Took a walk here a few days ago, looking forward hiring a boat on the lake. What a disappointment to find the lake devoid of water. The gardens were immaculately kept and there were some lovely statues and fountains. The view from the watch tower was good and my hubby enjoyed looking at the canons. Would have spent a lot more time here, had the lake been full.

Was expecting great things after reading all the fantastic reviews on here but sadly left feeling disappointed. As highlighted, it is not easy to find, up a few hills to find the main and only entrance so we arrived quite hot and bothered. Within a hour, we had a left and that included a visit to the toilet, a walk up the tower and a rest near a fountain. Would not waste your time.

Found this park on one of our walks and what a fabulous discovery. A beautiful, clean, spacious and relaxing park, above Torremolinos/Carihuela. The 'tower' gives an outstanding 'Mirador' viewpoint over the towns and coastline from beyond Benalmadena across to Malaga and out towards Nerja. Stunning scenery and a real breath of fresh air. Super boating lake too if you wish to take to the water. A perfect place for a picnic on a warm day.

Visited this park recently and what a lovely little park it is! You can go up the tower for superb views of the coast and surrounding area. Lovely to walk round and peaceful to sit in. The canons and large artillery that are displayed there are interesting too.

As nobody seems to know the history of this area I shall tell you: The area used to be an olive grove which turned into disuse and therefore the area became a de facto natural park with abundant and diverse plant, insect and bird life. Because of its situation close to the coast, varied vegatation and thereby insect life, The Bateria was a magnet for bird migrants having crossed the sea on their way from Africa to Europe; the olives grove gave them shelter and food; and they used to come in an abundance that I have rarely witnessed in any other place in the whole of southern Spain; and every day was a new experience in winter, spring and autumn with the ever changing birds you could see in the area. Apart from the birds this gem held a magnitude of rare butterflies and native plants and flowers.
In the spring of 1999 spent 3 months cleaning the area of garbage and litter, which regrettably is a frequent nuisance in just about any natural - or other - area in Spain as in many other countries. At the same time I watched the natural wonders of the place and counted more than 60 species of birds there.
After having learned ab out the ideas to turn the place into traditional artificial park, I pleaded to the town-hall of Torremolinos that the declared the area an urban natuaral park and made elaborate suggestions as to how to develope the area and make it even better as a natural habitat. At the same time I argued that the area was highly suited as an educational park for all the neighbours and the schools of Torremolinos. But in the end after receiving no response from the town they finally turned me down and said they would go on with their project. -- The park now is worse than I had ever imagined in my wildest negative fantasies. Gone is the wild life; not a single butterfly was seen in one week by me in September 2011. It was so depressing. A vision trampled upon by traditionalism and vulgarity.

One thing the torremolinos map didn't make clear was that this lovely urban park sits high on a cliff above the torremolinos/benalmadena road making for a long and tortuous walk from town to the entrance.
But its worth the effort. For the fantastic views, especially from the round tower; for the boating lake (open weekends in winter); the hundreds of parakeets and for the small battery (bateria) of world war I and II naval cannoons pointinng out to sea.
This is a lovely spot for a picnic and if you want to avoid the climb then one stop on the RENFE line from the centre of torremolinos takes you virtually to the entrance. Trains are frequent and park entrance is free

This is a beautifully kept park with many cannons to view and have your photo taken with. It is very green and welcoming. It seems extremely popular with local Spanish families.

We went to Parque La Bateria by accident when trying to find a place where to have a little picnic and noticed that it would be certainly even much more than just a lawn. There are beautiful greenhouses where you can enjoy your picnic even it wouldn't be a such a good weather, there are routes for running (with the music from the amplifiers!) a play area for children and even a lake where it's possible to go rowing! Our teens were excited for photographing the city from the observation tower while we adults were focused into the history from the placates. Very special thanks also for excellently tidy toilets!

We walked from Torremolinos town centre but the train station is very close by so we caught the train back to our hotel. Bit of a up hill climb.
The toilets are clean and a drinks vending machine situated outside the toilets and at the kids playground. Lovely fountains and trees. We went up the viewing tower and were surprised it had a lift. My husband has MS and enjoyed the views from the top he wouldn't have seen if it was stairs only. The boating lake was closed for cleaning unfortunately on our visit. A few interesting cannons and sculptures.
The kids play area was busy and the idea of the dummy tree was great.
We would return again to this lovely clean park and hopefully row a boat next time

Lo único aparte de las máquinas, al salir del parque al bajar el puente que hay, tienes un bar donde se come bien y a buen precio. Se llama kome kome. Fuera tiene un pequeño parque
