I stumbled on this community enterprise when exploring the 'regen' areas of the old city. The house dates from 1875 and is substantially unreconstructed. The downside of this is that it is clearly crumbling away. However, the good part is that you get to see a traditional mansion courtyard in all its former glory. There is a bar in the courtyard - bottled beer 1 euro, and the activists who run it offer themed food evenings (including vegan) as well as workshops and political involvement. As I understand it, the future of this place is insecure because the local authority has reneged on a promise to assist in keeping it going, and there is a threat of unthinking redevelopment. Yes, it's a bit crusty, but it welcomes all. If I were young again and wanting to make first contact with new friends in Malaga, this is where I would come. I can in fact remember old houses like this in Spain in the 1970's, but it is a rarity to find this kind of place today. So gird your loins, don't be scared of the myriad youth that go there. Go for the patio, the trees, the fountain, and don't worry about the grungy bits!

Stumbled across this place for lunch after shopping nearby. Lovely courtyard in the sun with a good vibe. Super cheap. Euro 1.5 per tapas plate and they were big plus wine and beer cheap too. A nice place to spend a few hours.

Casa Invisible is a pleasant courtyard oasis near the heart of old Málaga.
It is also a squat, and unfortunately for the occupiers has not remained invisible to the Málaga authorities.
On Wednesday 25 April 2018, when we stumbled upon it, the water supply had been cut off and the drinks fridges sealed by the Police. So certainly join the scene if it’s your thing, but bring your own food and drink, and don’t expect a flush toilet.
Hard not to be sympathetic for pleasant people we saw there who we understood had been there several years, but we don’t know all the facts so are in no position to judge.
It’s high trip advisor rating suggest there’s been fun to be had but on a rather haphazard basis.
Hope this helps give a clearer idea of what to expect.

I was taken here by a group of friends.... to cut it short i have been told that the people that run this place, who make and sell you their wares are "squatters".. i didn´t want to ask to verify it to be true.. anyway..

As you can imagine, lots of long haired, shirtless, sandle wearing waiters serving the basics. There was a builders bucket full of what they call "mojito". It must have held nearly 15lts of pre made ready to "scoop n serve...., and not a lime in view! A couple of mint leaves floating but thats your luck. A guy cooking a BBQ with no shirt on and wiping his brow with his wrist he used while flipping the burgers.

As i said, im happy for anybody who likes the hippie alternate lifestyle... but for me it was too "casual" and "uncontrolled".

We found this wonderful place by chance and returned for several nights. It's different with mosaics, murals and is open space with a complete mix of young , university types and tourists!
It was interestingly different and we enjoyed the scene!
We never got to the bottom of how it came to be in existence but there is a story there!

We went on Friday 15th September. It was closed. There was a sign on the shutter to say they open again in September???

We ended up going to the El Calafate vegetarian restaurant next door which was amazing!

I walked into this courtyard bar like Alice falling down the rabbit hole. It has a wonderfully relaxed and inclusive vibe. I felt like I'd stopped being a tourist and that I had found a place that was I would want to go to again again. And, reader, I did.

La Casa Invisible is a nice little enclosed garden in the heart of the historical center of Malaga. It has a very relaxing atmosphere and I highly recommend it for a beer or a cocktail at night or even a coffee during the day. The place also functions as a community school with different projects daily. I don’t know much about this but it’s really worth a look.

Reminded me of squats in Berlin, but with better weather. Nice sense of community spirit and creativity.

It was closed on Monday, 21st of August 2017 with no information on the steel shades regarding opening hours. Maybe it had been closed for good. We lost some time for finding it and had to move to a tapas bar.
A huge disappointment.
