Castillo de Gibralfaro Malaga and Alcazaba de Malaga
When you are in Malaga City, a must to visit is the prominent area of Castillo de Gibralfaro and Alcazaba. You can buy combined tickets for both so you can avail a discount at the main ticket by the entrance. It needs at least one whole day to enjoy your time not rushing so much and missing some good panoramic views and landscapes and specially the view of Malaga city from the top of Gibralfaro. This requires a lot of walking, so I suggest for you to be ready for some heights and slopes. A great outdoor activity when it's a fine and clear day, as the view from the top is really amazing.

    Panoramic Views.
Castillo de Gilbralfaro overlooks the city of Malaga & there are panoramic views in all directions, as you can see the port, marina, park & the mountains which are a backdrop to the city. There are numerous steps to climb to different heights, so leave a bit of time to explore here. We came by the hop-on-off bus arriving in the late afternoon so it was too late for the coffee shop.

    Nice panorama
Located on the top of the hill, you need to climb a lot of steps, but once you reach it after a good 20 mins walk, you get a beautiful 360 degree scenery over the city. You visit the castle only from the outdoor by following the narrow walk on top of the walls surround it. The entrance cost only 2€ if you package it with the below fort, which is much nicer.

    What a view
Getting to the castle by walking is pretty hard, above all if it's sunny and hot, you need strong legs' muscles. But then the walk along the castle's walls in a sunny day was one of the best walks ever, for the amazing view on the whole city and the sea. And it's also very cheap, we only paid 1,50 euros each, since we are students.

    Not worth the effort
Steep 20 minute walk up from the old town Unremarkable views on the way up 3.50 Euro to enter the castle and very little to see up there . A small museum lacking any information in English and no information points elsewhere . Basically not worth the effort

    A View From the Top
Affordable and easy to navigate, make sure to arrive early to avoid the biggest crowds. The hike up is a bit steep, but our family with young children and a toddler made it with a few piggy backs along the way. There are busses that also make the trip. Tickets are easily purchased from a machine where you can select from many languages. Self guided audio tours are also available. There are a number of stairs inside the castle and uneven terrain. Walking on the castle walls however is a great treat for views around the whole city. Toilets and a small cafe made this a great stop after a warm morning of climbing.

    Worth the climb
This castle with two lines of walls and eight towers sits on a high hill overlooking Malaga city and port. It was built between the 10th and 14th centuries to protect the Alcazaba. You can walk on its walls and have spectacular views of the city.

Excellent views, but it's a hike!
Perched on top of the hills of Malaga, one is afforded excellent views of the ocean and of the city of Malaga. Otherwise, there's really not much to see inside. In fact, I was kinda bored and I'm still assessing if the steep 15-20 minute hike to get to it was worth my time. Small museum inside, but not very interesting. You can get a combined ticket for the Alcazaba and the Gibralfaro, cheaper then if you'd buy a ticket for each individually.

    Well worth the climb !
It’s a steep walk up to the top but many stopping places en route to catch one’s breath and look at the views. The view from the very top is wonderful. The museum is well laid out and interesting. Could do with translation of the information into other languages and the cafe to be open all the time the castle is not closed an hour or so beforehand as if was the day we went .

Great view but not for anyone not sure-footed
Real bit of history and fairly untouched or Disney-fied. Great views too However, if ike me you are a bit on the clumsy side please wear strong and steady footwear and be careful - it would so easy to take a nasty tumble. Entry to this and the Alcazaba for E5.50 was really good value and included the elevator up to the Alcazaba. I took the 35 bus down to street level and then took the lift (in the walls behind the park) up to the Alcazaba rather than the steep winding path.

You really get your workout if you hike up to this Castillo. Is it worth the hike? You bet it is. The views are amazing and it’s just hard to image how this fortress was built. We watched parakeets building nests on the way up and they were at eye view. You also get an opportunity to peer into the bull ring. Allow ½ day for this adventure.

It is a very long and steep walk up to the Castle. We took a taxi but there’s also a local bus, the 35: and you can of course walk. The views are across the harbour and the city spectacular and the walk down has a number of options at the bottom, including to the Jardines de Pedro Luis Alonso and the esplanade. The castle had just COVID-19 closed when we were there but the exercise and views was good.

This place is all about the city panoramic views. It’s only a mile from the city centre but if you chose to walk up passing 5he Albacaras on your left side beware it is steep in places.
The top half of the route is fairly polished granite stones with fief steps so make sure you don’t wear flip flops. It’s onlyApprox 375 up from the main old town but feels more as it is steep in places.
Some good panoramic views of the port and gardens on the way up.
Inside there is a display building with Spanish military artefacts. But it’s all about 5he views from the many viewpoints.
all of the displays inside the museum and around the walk are in Spanish only.
Ps set off 0830 to get there as it opens to beat the crows and the stifling mid day heat
