The Sunday Morning Market in the Bull Ring of Estepona is great! It's a Flea Market/Antiques/Boot Sale market from 9am to 2pm. No entrance fee and lots of bargains!
The Bull Ring was designed by Pablo Picasdo

Visited the marina for a non dolphin sight seeing tour. Loved the boat trip even without the sight or mention of the dolphins it was beautiful. Tour ended at 4 and no where to eat - all restaurants had close the kitchens for the afternoon and so not re-open until 6. Ice cream parlour was the only option 😂 good selection and variety of eateries. No hassle from restaurants or from tour reps which was hood.

The marina in Estepona is a favourite spot of many people, until late in the night and early morning in summer, as the bars and restaurants are open late late late.

But it's also a pleasant place in the daytime, as those same bars and restaurants are open for a cooling drink and a wee rest.

By the way, it's probably best not to try to come here by car, although there is one carpark. If you do want to park, drive down the main entrance to the marina, turn first right and go to the end of the row of shops. The carpark is on the left, it's paying and pricey. The parking spaces along the road are mainly privately owned.

Otherwise, get there on foot.

Stroll along the Paseo Maritimo - check the reviews. At the very end you'll come to two rows of fishermen's huts, walk between them. At the right time of year you'll see Flying Fish hanging up to dry, and on most days people mending nets. At the end of these huts there's the La Escollera restaurant: read the reviews of that, and decide when you're coming back to eat the freshest fish ever!

Veer sort of right by the Escollera, and then take the road on the left. You'll come there to a building with a sort of, well, I don't know how to describe it! A sort of piazza on top. It is the flat roof of a harbour building that has been recently beautified, with some shade and places to sit and admire the view. The places to sit are metal and wood chairs, carefully sited so that when you are sitting down you cannot talk to the person sitting next to you.

:-)

But go up there anyway for a good view of the Marina (to your right) and the Fishing Port (straight ahead). You may even see a boat coming in, followed by a flock of seagulls as it brings its catch to unload at the "Lonja" - the wholesale fish market. See how close it is to La Escollera? That's why its fish is so fresh!

Continue along that little road to the beginning of the Marina.

The boats here are not on the same Billionaire scale as in Puerto Banus. They are just boats owned by people richer than you or me, I guess. But it's nice to potter around looking at them, buying an ice-cream in the lovely ice-cream parlour in the Control Tower, stopping for a coffee or a beer.

There is also here an enormous choice of restaurants. Italian, Indian, Chinese, general international cuisine. You won't go hungry, although it's mainly not very typically Spanish, if that's what you are looking for. But if your teenagers are moaning that they are being cruelly force-fed paella and gambas al ajillo, and thus being deprived of Chicken Jalfreezi, Pizza Marinara or Sweet and Sour Prawns, then this is the place!

If you should happen to have any stale bread in your pocket, you can throw bits into the water to attract a crowd of fish, some quite large - nearly two feet long. These fish are called Lisas in Spanish - no idea what the English is. They are inedible as they are scavengers in ports, but it's fun to watch them scrambling for the lumps of bread.

On Sunday mornings there's a market here which is generally very popular; they even have coach-loads of OAPs coming from 20 or 30 miles away some weeks.

Clothes, watches, sunglasses, jewellery (some nice silver stuff on a couple of stalls), CDs, belts, toys, leatherwear, paintings, hats and of course bags.

The bars are packed on those days, so if you just want to sit at a terrace and nurse a cappuccino while you watch the folk go by, get there early.

The centre of nightlife in the summer, when the bars and restaurants are lively until the early hours, this is also a good spot in the daytime.

Sunday mornings, of course, are especially good as there is the Sunday market. Not fruit and veg, but crafts, clothes, CDs, glasses, toys, watches, handbags - the usual Street Market goodies in abundance. Oh - I almost forgot the necklaces, bracelets, ear-rings and other trinkets! Here is where you can probably fill all your requirements for upcoming birthdays and other gift occasions.

The boats are interesting to look at too, although this is not mega-rich country like Puerto Banus, and neither will you find the super-cars - Lamborghinis etc - that you see there.

One of the very biggest attractions of the marina is the enormous number and variety of bars and restaurants, catering to every taste. Irish Bar? Tick. Chinese? Tick. Italian? Tick. Indian? Tick. Tapas? Tick. Spanish Fish? Tick. Moroccan? Tick. And so on. The only thing that you won't find is a McDonalds or a Burger King.

The nicest way to get here is to walk along the Paseo Maritimo seafront promenade. If you intend to come by car, read my suggestions in the last review that I wrote - parking is not easy here!

But life in general is very easy in the Estepona Marina.

The marina is pretty and have also many restaurants with many different kind of food. Good for breakfast and lunches while dinner for me is better in the old town.
Nice to have a walk around seeing the fisherboats, both small and large and all the nice sail boats too.
Can be recommended. Sunday lunchtime there is a street marked at the poet!

The marina of Estepona, to the west of the old town, is a hub of bars, restaurants and cafes. You'll also find two supermarkets nearby

There are two levels; the top level has more estate agents and offices, plus smaller restaurants. If you need car hire or want an excursion, go to the top level and look for Time in Spain holidays

The lower level restaurants overlook the marina from their terraces, so make a good place to stop for lunch or dinner

Just by the control tower you'll find Reinaldo's bar; a great place to relax and people watch from its terraces

There are a lot of holiday makers in the marina, so it is far more cosmopolitan that the old town. If you're looking for traditional Spain, you won't find it here - head to the centre of the old town which is about 12 minutes walk along the paseo or promonade - walk past the lighthouse and keep walking!

However, if you want a good selection of restaurants offering different cuisine at various budgets you can't go wrong in the marina!

The Sunday market is held in the marina from about 9:00 to 14:30 and us great for souvenirs and trinkets

Overall, the marina is Estepona is worth a visit and a stroll around

Went to the market this morning with great expectations, unfortunately it failed to deliver, apart from 2/3 stalls selling ladies clothing the rest is pure tat.
The only thing we purchased was coffee at Cafe Bar Reinaldo 10/10

Very few bars shops or anything else really - good if you really like boats but I only used it as a stop off drink on way to and from town
