An hour from home and we still visit the area several times a year. To see a train cross the gorge and go through the tunnels is amazing. This crossing featured in the movie Von Ryans Express although it was not supposed to be in...More

Spectacular scenery of lakes/reservoirs and imposing vertical cliffs. Also an impressive old rail bridge and viaduct. It's a great place for walking although at present some of the more challenging and exposed cliffside paths are closed for maintenance/ rebuilding. For the younger and more active...More

I have been here a few times and each time I have wished we have spent a few days here. For outdoor lovers there is so much. Nearby lakes for kayaking, road and mountain biking, walking, hiking, climbing. It needs some advance preparation but well...More

The view of the lakes as you come through the mountains are worth it alone.. Amazing blue and torquoise colours Couple of restuarants and ruins to see, otherwise park up along the side and bring a picnic and enjoy the views. Then head to the...More

We went on the Camino del Rey with Steve from Barbary Rock Adventures who I'd highly recommend. The first part of the walk is the scariest where you have to traverse across some metal brackets about a meter apart (our guide called these the hanging...More

Now, I've climbed mountains in Switzerland, rock climbed all over Britain, qualified as a Mountain Leader (MLTB) so I'd like to say I have a fair bit of experience and also like to think I can judge a good mountain guide as well. Steve at...More

The highlight of this place is a dangerous path called “El caminito del Rey“, a suspended platform adjacent to the cliff, built back in the 1900′s and that it took 4 years to complete. The original purpose for this man made path was to enable...More

The lakes of El Chorro, set in Ardales National Park, are absolutely beautiful, the scenery is breathtaking, the lakes turquoise. We visit at least three times during our stays and our children prefer the lakes to the beach. There are cars parked on the roadside...More

We always love visiting the El Chorro gorge which is deep in the heart of the Ardales National Park. The cleft left by the separation of the granite rock from the sandstone rock has created a narrow cleft, the Garganta [the throat] through which water...More

Is it ever possible to get tickets even if a particular hour is sold out? For example, if a few people did not show up for their scheduled time, would they allow someone in who had not reserved in advance?

Hi! I understand you can walk between El Chorro Station and Ardales, following the lake. Can you tell me how far it is, whether we would follow a road or footpaths and whether it's better/easier to start at El Chorro (and catch a bus back from Ardales to Malaga) or Ardales (and catch a bus back from El Chorro to Malaga). Is there a map of the area (preferably showing roads/footpaths) I could download? If not, could we get one at either El Chorro or Ardales? Hope you can help. Muchas graçias!

Hi there. I've just found out about El Chorro Gorge through another internet site. Can you tell me is it only worth a visit if you are able to book the walk? We have checked on their timetable and it is unavailable in October when we will be in Spain. Thanks
