Rather similar to many other Spanish cities. Note the architecture of the buildings on each side of the narrow streets with many balcony windows. Beware the area id a tourist trap when you look for somewhere to eat.

We stayed in an apartment in the centre of La Vina for 3 days.
Safe to say the place comes alive in the evening and more so at weekends.
Lots of bars and restaurants, including La Manteca, so you will neither go hungry or lacking in a good glass of wine.

One of the most charming neighborhoods in the old city. Not far from the cathedral, lots of narrow streets with well-maintained apartment buildings plus lots of places to eat, lots of coffee. Good for a stroll.

One of the 'popular' neighborhoods of Cádiz Formerly due to the population (barrio popular) but now it has become sort of fancy, probably just a little too popular. Lodging in this area means the La Caleta Beach close at hand and many bars and restaurants too choose from. But it also means pretty much noise from locals, tourists, garbage trucks and cleaning machines. For me, the sympathy of the neighborhood wins from the noise, although after a couple of nights without much sleep.....

Vibrant area full of restaurants and amusements. Full of people in the summer, true heart of the nightlife of the city!

El Barrio de La Vina is probably the most Andalusian and most traditional neighborhood of Cadiz, full of history and friendly locals. Its a beautiful area with historical buildings and excellent restaurants, bars and tapas bars to dine in. We walked around and were greeted by friendly, happy people. Cadiz is a walking city, we enjoyed walking around La Vina neighborhood with our friends who introduced us to the real life in Cadiz. This is also the neighborhood where the Carnival of Cadiz which is held every February originates from. So much history, Cadiz is a beautiful city to visit and spend quality time getting to know the locals. I consider this city to be more Andalusian than other cities in the south of Spain.

The best "how to find it" directions I could give would be to turn your back on Castillo de Saint Sebastian and the Playa de la Caleta, walk up the streets for a few blocks. There are cafes, bars, vendors, and families so this is a real neighborhood of locals (and about a few hundred of us tourists).
Old buildings with window flower pots add local flavor to this neighborhood of narrow streets.

This is your standard neighborhood in Cádiz, with some amazing buildings close to fairly decadent ones, but the plus is in the Playa de la caleta which is an amazing place for a walk or to lay down in the sun in Summer!

Hi, taking a cruise with Royal Caribbean and want to know how to get to Barrio La Vina from port.
Written January 23, 2019
In our opinion, Cadiz is very walkable and quite small in scale. Your info desk/concierge on board should have a local map for you to venture forth to the Barrio on your own. We went there on a Voyages to Antiquity cruise and only had a half day in Cadiz.
Keeping in mind your sailing time (and arrival time in port), decide if you'll take a panoramic bus ride with Royal Caribbean or if you will venture forth on your own. I'm guessing you won't have time to do both.
Cruise ships come in to port near the large plaza (near the Burger King) and it is easy to walk through that plaza and keep walking to the center of Cadiz which is pretty much where the Barrio La Vina is.
Although it is very easy to find your way around in Cadiz, none of these neighborhoods are all that well marked or defined. Better to choose an attraction you want to see there in the Barrio and then focus on that location; you'll have an easier time locating the Barrio that way.
