Unlike the more upscale "mercado" attractions in other cities (Granada, Cordoba), this is a no-BS fruit, vegetable, meat and seafood sales area, at least in the mornings. We had a blast buying sausage, olives and cheese from happy vendors, despite language limitations.

Enter the market and you find an open air outer part, full of food and drink shops and stall. In the centre, the covered inner market hall carries on trading - especially notable for its fish stalls, and local tuna catches, and other local specialities.

The Cadiz Central Market was like most markets in Spain a fun place to visit and look at the remarkable food displays and the people seliing it. Mercado Central was no different and worth a visit.

What a fabulous bustling place to grab some lunch and a beer and watch the world go by. With impromptu performances from singers and dancers you certainly won’t get bored!

The atmosphere of the market is magic. The food displays are colourful and artistic and you just want to eat everything you see because it looks so fresh and appetising. There is endless chatting, arguing and vigorous discussions between the stall owners and customers and...More

Incredible seafood at incredible prices...so fresh, what a difference with a Mediterranean town market. In addition, you can taste lots of tapas and specialties right there around the market. If you want, you buy seafood at the market, bring it up and they will prepare...More

The Central market has loads of fresh seafood; many different types of fish and shellfish. A few stalls offer vegetables and fruit. Also there is a row of stalls offering fresh and preserved meats.

We did not notice any when we visited there. However, it is an open air market and there are so many places selling food for people to eat at the tables around the court and there are many that do. So it might make it... More
