This is a typical laneway restaurant with internal spaces as well of course, and we chose it because another favourite place had plenty of tables but those under the umbrellas and out of the hot sun were all occupied. Overall, the food, beer and local wine was good although the service was a little scratchy because it was so busy and there was basically only one busy waiter looking after the external tables. Cádiz is a place where one is spoiled for choice and with thousands of tourists still around, everything and everywhere is busy. So, we chose all seafood options and a real discovery, thanks to local friends with whom we were spending the day, recommended sea anemone, prepared in the same fashion as baby calamari, battered and deep fried. Sardines, prepared the same way are also excellent and we also has marinated fresh sardine fillets. We thought all was really good and worthwhile as well as being extremely reasonable in price.

'Poor' does not begin to describe it. It is very centrally located next to the market and it is a prime spot. One might have thought that at least the fish would be fresh. We ordered calamari ... cold and as tough as leather. The rest of the food was inedible. The indifferent service is nearly as bad as the food.

We visited this place for lunch while at the fish market. I wish I hadn’t bothered it was awful. The service was dreadful, wrong drinks brought, couldn’t seem to care less. I found them extremely rude. The food was ok but was thrown onto the table we asked for mayo, twice, never arrived. My daughter had chips and wanted ketchup never got it. The wine was disgusting, it was of such poor quality we ended up not drinking it. Such a shame as the area is great and the market next door is well worth a visit. I would however avoid this place

Just had our third lunch here. We were lucky enough to get a table straightaway as this place is very popular on a Sunday lunchtime. If you aren't so lucky you may have to wait 15 to 20 minutes for a table but wait it out and you will be rewarded with some of the best tapas in Cadiz. We had 1/2 ration of oxtail in sauce which was a good start. Followed by croquette potatoes and a couple of Gambarones Tortillas (shrimp in batter). Lastly a portion of deep fried king prawns which were superb. With a couple of beers and some mineral water the bill was under €35. Make a beeline for this place as the food is excellent and the price is reasonable. Notes: only open lunchtime Tuesday to Sunday and CASH only. Enjoy

We last visited La Taverna Bombilla in May 2018 so this year we decided to re-visit and we were not disappointed. The owner is always busy but always has the time to have a word with his customers. The food is just as good if not better than last year, the Padron peppers are the best we had tasted in Cadiz, his beer is ice cold and hits the spot. We made several visits to La Taverna Bombilla and enjoyed every visit, The Oysters from "Amigo" at the market entrance are absolutely delicious and sweet and coupled with a beer or wine at Bombilla is not to be missed, you can be assured of good food and a welcome hospitality. When, not if we visit Cadiz again we will definitely re-visit Many Thanks
