I love climbing towers to see the view, so when I found out the Cadiz Cathedral clock-tower was open to the public it was firmly in my plans during our cruise stop in the city. The clock-tower entry is included in the cathedral ticket price and the entrance point is at the foot of the left-hand tower (i.e. to the left as you face the main façade).

The walk to the top is via gentle sloping paths and not stairs so it was relatively easy going to reach the top...there are 72 slopes in total although most are very short gentle slopes and it took me less than 10 minutes to reach the top. The top of the tower is 131ft high and offers a 360-degree panoramic view over the city, so it's well worth doing.

Most of the viewing area is open air so you don't have to take photos from behind glass, which is nice.

Note that at the time of writing this review (12 Feb 2023) the clock tower is closed for maintenance so best to check with the cathedral website for updates.

Climbing the tower is an experience that rarely happens to us due to the characteristics of the site, going up with patience, going down is another matter. Once up, enjoy the views and it is better to enter when the ringing of the bells has passed (in 15 minutes they will ring again), if the sky is clear it is much more enjoyable
