The dark wooden carvings and generally over-the-top ornateness made this church too claustrophobic for my liking, though this was partially offset at the time of our visit by displays of white flowers garlanding the altar. Not one of my favourite churches.
The church was built in the 17th century and belonged to the Jesuit college. Spectacular altarpieces and sculptures from 17th and 18th century, with works of some famous local artists (like Alejandro de Saavedra, among others)
