The depicted statue is not what is there now. Saint Raphael is the custodian of the city, credited with saving the city from a plague in the 17th century, having told a priest he would do so. As the plague subsided, the archangel's apparition was seen throughout the city. It is between the Mezquita and the Roman bridge.

Situated alongside the mosque leading to the Roman Bridge the obelisk Triunfo De San Raphae is a 17c monument, one of many ‘triumphs’, not victories but expressions of religious devotion to Guardian Angels,in Cordoba. This one obviously St Raphael. There’s another ‘triumph’ on the nearby Roman Bridge. It’s always nice to see an obelisk or statue on a tall tower.

Our route into the old town took us first along the Paseo de la Ribera and then through the Triunfo de San Rafael from 1765. The column bears the statue of the Archangel Raphael. Very close by is the Puente Romano, the Romanesque bridge on the river
Great photo opportunity.

We could only see this monument from the street. The square this sits on seems to be closed (locked up). This is a beautiful monument, but it may be in need of repairs. One can’t miss it as it is on the way to the Roman Bridge from the Mosque/Cathedral.

Triunfo de San Rafael is on the way to Roman Bridge of Córdoba road.
There are quite a few tourists passing by on the way to the Cordoba Cathedral.
The momentum is beautiful and should be seen even at night

Arco del Triunfo is located behind the Mezquita toward the Guadalquivir river and adjacent to the Roman Bridge (Puente Romano); so you'll walk by it while exploring these other sites. No charge to enter the small gated courtyard of the Arco del Triunfo. Take a quick visit before walking over the bridge.

The monument to the city's patron saint, San Rafael, is situated between the Mezquita and the Roman Bridge so you can't miss it if you are visiting. Nicely illuminated at night.

Recommend this pleasant, large plaza near the Roman bridge. Good for a quick photo shoot. Near hotels.

When you're approaching Mezquita, you can't avoid this monument, erected to St Rafael. People of Cordoba believed, that their guardian angel Raphael saved them from the plagues. Who believes in what finds salvation in it. It stands just a few steps away from Puerta del Punte, de gate leading to the Roman Bridge. A lot of historical sites in one group. The monument is more ornamental than the gate, but I prefer the latter.

Triunfo de San Rafael translated means Triumph of Saint Rafael. This typical Cordovan monument typology dates to the 1600s, and is Córdoba’s greatest expression of devotion to Archangel Raphael, the city’s “guardian angel.” The structure is a Counter Reformation of Baroque art, and the opening in the base was the only place for street lighting—which may be construed as “the guiding light.” The city’s devotion to San Rafael comes from a severe plague epidemic. The monument is a Plague Tower, such as those found in Prague, Budapest, and Vienna. Even knowing that (and knowing individuals did not save people from the plague), Triunfo de San Rafael is far more than a simple monument. It is also a plaza, a gathering place for locals, and “Puerta del Puente,” a city gate.
Consider this: Is a statue of George Washington in the States just a statue, or the figure of Winston Churchill in a British war memorial, only that of a man—or of what they symbolize? Triunfo de San Rafael is a memorial to one Cordovans four centuries ago believed delivered them from the plague. For many reasons, this site holds much reverence, far more than meets the eye.
