We travelled to Cordoba specifically for the Patio Festival and it did not disappoint! We were there on exceptionally hot days, and the queues were ridiculously long. We decided to not stand in the queue for 1 hour + to spend 5 minutes in a patio, and instead visited the patios in the evening. Well, what a difference! No queues, we were in each within 0-5 minutes, visited about 10 in half an hour. Amazing to see all the planting and what they do with the space, can only be appreciated by seeing in real life! The next morning we went to the other side of Cordoba and got into the patios earlier and this was also a good plan and we saw around 10 more! Would recommend to anyone but if you don't do what we did, prepare to queue during the festival.

There are multiple patios/courtyards with beautiful flowers, all in close proximity to one another. You'll be given a map by plenty of people trying to sell you a tour, and you can pay a fee to see these. Some people sneak into these briefly while the owners aren't looking and snap photos. Let your conscience be your guide.

Possibly the best attraction in Cordoba. For just 5 euros you can enter five different patios and see how life in Córdoba used to be. Beautiful flowers/ plant pots, interesting little rooms and houses. This is a great addition to the main tourist attractions and a lovely way to spend an hour.

What one imagines as quintessentially Cordoba is realised here. Blue flower pots adorn the white washed walls. All resulting in a charming space.

Not surprising that it’s such a popular stop-off for so many.

We were in Cordoba in March so things were not yet in full bloom but the patio gardens were still lovely. Many are free or have a nominal fee so see as many as you can. The variations that different families and neighbors put together are really lovely and seeing the authentic styles of houses is very interesting. They are also lovely shady retreats from the strong sun!

We spent a weekend touring patios that participated in the Fiesta de los Patios. We were overwhelmed by the lines in the Jewish quarter and down by the Alcazar & Mequita. We had a much better time visiting the patios to the north east near Palacio Viana. The lines were much shorter which allowed us to see so many more beautiful patios.

Total disaster: I booked my trip to Cordoba to do this tour. We came on time and nobody was here. I called the contact information several times and finally they answered. I asked for my tour and they said they did not received the confirmation. After giving them my confirmation number, photos of my tickets they told me they can see me two hours later.
Well, not an option. If you are traveling you may have a scheduled. Waiting for my refund.

There is a Festival Competition during the first two weeks in May, so this is the time to see the open patios at their peek. We did go on a guided tour and I would strongly suggest doing this as they have local knowledge and we were taken to the winners and the unusual ones. So beautiful. You need to be happy to walk for a couple of hours.

We went to Cordoba on Wednesday when most of famous Cordoba patios were closed. However we were still able to see a couple of patios which were open by owners. All he had to do was to find an open door with some message like "See patio" and leave a small donation. Patios were filled with greenery and flowers. Beautiful!

The guide was very helpful showing us where to find these. The owners are duly proud of their efforts and there are plenty of flowers to see even in early March. If you enjoy gardens these are well worth spending an hour looking around.
