This was a nice campus to walk through as we explored the town's neighbourhoods. Nothing jaw-dropping, just a good feel as we walked-through on our way places.

We went here intentionally, knowing the address of UNESCO-listed sites of Bauhaus in Weimar. It's on a pedestrian street, we just parked or car on the next street and walked around. There are two listed buildings, it is possible to enter university even on Sunday morning, see the interior, the staircase and appreciate the architecture of Bauhaus style.

Though it only lasted a couple of decades, this philosophy and school had far-ranging influence on German and international society. The museum is only one room, full of objects, sketches and renderings, but if you get the audio you will learn more than enough about the history and intention of the Bauhaus movement.

We were fortunate to see Gropius´ office in the main building, very Bauhaus. The buildings were in various styles, but much bauhaus. walking tours and brochures available. Highly recommended for students of archetecture and tourists

What I like so much about the 2 university buildings that Henry van de Velde designed in Weimar for the School of Applied Arts (later Bauhaus) is that they are still in use. Students hang around and from time to time you notice traces of their projects and works. If you follow a tour that starts from the Bauhaus Atelier,... More
