About
Perched upon a hill to the south of Weimar in the middle of a spacious park with an orangery, pleasure garden and labyrinth lies Belvedere Castle, the former Baroque summer residence of the ducal family of Saxony-Weimar and Eisenach. Since 1923 the castle has been used as a museum of the arts and crafts dating back to the 18th century, featuring exquisite porcelain works once owned by Weimar’s ducal dynasty.

Nice Castle
Jul 2020
Unfortunately the Castle was closed for our visit. So a stroll around the park was the only thing available. Impressive for a hunting lodge!

We were just driving around and ran across the Belvedere. It was late in the day and the building was closed but the grounds and orangery were very nice. Went back the 2nd time to go through the house and it was well worth the time.

Not worthwhile
Jul 2018 • Couples
It is not worthwhile to go out to this summer palace. You can only see the main building with its collections of china and glasses and the gardens. The other buildings are now used by the Music High School .

Wonderful park
Mar 2018 • Couples
The huge park is absolutely worth a visit.
And the greenhouse is a must-see, too. The entry fee is 2,50 per person. The park is free, you just have to pay to park your car.

My first ever visit to a castle. Absolutely everything I imagined it would be and more. Very close to where we were staying. Beautiful artwork, very helpful staff, wonderful gardens. I will certainly be back in the next couple of years to spend more time on this beautiful place. Barb from Perth Western Australia

Beautiful castle build in the beginning of 1700 now listed on UNESCO world heritage. Gigantic castle park to stroll around with statues and flowers. Well worth a visit.

Bike Ride to the Chateau
Aug 2017 • Couples
The chateau is easily reached from Weimar by bike or by car. We cycled there in about 20 minutes. It is nicely renovated and well worth a visit. The surrounding park is well kept and the famous Orangerie features palms, orange trees, oleander and other exotic plants. They are housed indoors in the winter. The chateau itself is small but full of treasures, especially with porcelain and paintings.

Interesting, even when the house is not open
Oct 2016 • Friends
Duke Ernst August of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach had a Baroque summer residence including an orangery, pleasure garden and labyrinth built here between 1724 and 1748. During the winter months Schloss Belvedere's main buildings are not open to the public. However, the extensive gardens (43 acres of parkland) and some of the subsidiary buildings are.

This could be a nice museum, but at present works are done.
The orangerie (and garden) is nice, but the Chateau itself is pretty outdated. It is nice to see, but not really a must see in Weimar.
