This is a very good, if a rather serious museum on the Hansa trading network, of which Lübeck was the central hub. Good points.....it is not dumbed down unlike many British museums which now cater for an average age of 6-! I doubt if children...More

This is a beautiful and interestingly laid out museum, with massive amounts of information and visuals to plow through. It's essentially a guided tour without the 'live' guide, as you wend your way from one exhibit to the next, all with focus and relation to...More

The history of the Hanseatic League is fascinating and well presented at this museum. The personalised approach, where your electronic ticket selects your chosen language for each exhibit, is very user-friendly. Be aware that the museum is very popular, particularly with school groups- our arrival...More

This museum is a cultural, historical, and educational tour de force. It succeeds in bringing to life the commercial, social, and technological aspects that prevailed during the several hundred years when the Hanseatic League was a major factor in European trade. The Hansemuseum gives a nice interactive exhibition on the interesting history of the Hanseatic treaty, which defined trade in Eastern and Northern Europe in the late Middle Age. At the start you choose your favourite town and aspects, and through this choice you get your...More

The perfect museum. Well organised information providing a multi-dimensional contextual view of trade in the 13-17th centuries, the dominance of city states under the cartel-like Hansa League, and the central importance of Lübeck during this period. My wife and I started our visit at 2:30...More
