A generational effort in restoration, with a super view

This cathedral was really devastated by WWII bombing, and it is still quite a long way from being fully restored: core building finished, but not the decorations, etc. An amazing amount of work was required to get this far, over many years. One neat benefit of the restoration is that you can take an elevator right up the bell tower.... More

This is a must-see in old Lubeck. Damaged extensively in World War 2, it has been restored well and has many of its old artifacts and works of art.

This long Cathedral (Dom) has equally long history, that is inscripted into its architecture. An origin is Romanesque, later Gothic. During the Second World War has been partly damadged by the Royal Air Force.

Must visit church in Luebeck with interesting history. At least to me it was interesting to visit most/all of the Luebeck churches to get a complete view from the history of the town and religions. Cathedral, obviously, is one of the most interesting sights in Luebeck

The Cathedral is situated in a quiet area just a very few minutes' walk from the town centre. It is a monumental structure, with what appear to be huge areas of space, which exude a feeling of calm.

The Cathedral is well worth a visit even if only has a haven from the summer sun. It is well maintained and the exhibition space at one end of the Cathedral details its complete renovation /restoration /rebuilding however it is only in German. In fact many of the sites in Lubeck lack any other 'tourist language' which detracts from their... More

I went to the cathedral with my 9 year old daughter and we were both blown away but this experience! This is a very beautiful cathedral which has so many thing to look at and like a cathedral should be: It's huge. When we were there somebody was playing on the organ and though I'm not really into this kind... More

This cathedral is balanced - not overly ornate, not plain. There is plenty to interest the casual visitor or serious tourist and yet it still feels like what it was built for - to glorify God. The views from across the lake are particularly nice.
