Without going into the history of the building as there are sufficient online resources for that, St. Petri zu Lubeck is no longer actively used as a church and there is ongoing restoration work in progress. Notwithstanding you can visit the viewing gallery for a...More

Although this old church was destroyed during WW2, it was rebuilt in the years following the end of the war. It's destruction meant that much of the furnishings and artefacts were lost forever, even though the building was rebuilt. It is no longer a consecrated...More

Church of St Peter, originally built during the 12th century but completely destroyed during the WWII air raids. Thus being completely rebuilt, its interior was completely plain and white but still impressive. Around the church, all the buildings had a modern look to them as...More

Incredible church structure built by the brick masons to honor the Heavens and showcase their talents, now painted stark white to showcase whatever may be considered art within its walls. Neither does justice to the other. At least it is preserved.

With some of the highest towers in town, the St. Petri offers wonderful views in all directions. For those of us who remember the division of Germany, you really understand how close this city was to the Iron Curtain when looking eastwards.

It is worth to get to St. Petri tower to see how Lubeck looks from the top. You can make some nice photos there. The tower itself is not very tall, so you would not see all river.

This is the place to go to get a great view of the old town of Lubeck. Located a bit off the center of the old town, you get awesome views.

This is not used as a church any more and is really not worth a visit. The interior is pretty but is certainly not a church.

The church was under renovation, so no tours. But the elevator to the tower was still open. The views are stunning!

If you do one thing in Lübeck, take the lift to the viewing platform at the top of the tower of this former church. The views are simply amazing and you will get a really good feel for how the old town of Lübeck is...More
