Huge statue, made by the Danes, when they won the first Schleswig war, it was later moved to Berlin, when German one the second Schleswig war in 1864. Post world war II it was moved to Copenhagen, and then returned to Flensburg in 2011.

The cemetery that surrounds the Lion is also well worth a visit - particularly the bits that relate to the wars between 1850 & 1864, as this is part of the history of the Lion. Remarkable that it survived its travels to Berlin & Copenhagen, before finally returning to Flensburg.

At first we thought that we should go and see this lion who finally made it home if we had the time. But glad we made the time. Huge statue and impressive too and gave another reason to remember what was and is ....

The statue is nice and is placed in an old park/cemetery. It is for sure worth a visit if you combine it with a stroll in the park.

A lot of other reviews stresses that there is a nice view of the city from this place, but that is 100% wrong.
There is a lot of history connected to the statue, so Google that before going that will improve the experience.

All in all a nice place, but still just a statue of a lion.
