It requires a bit of stairs up to the castle. But it worthy. We visited the castle with audio guide. Mainly talking about the history and building technique in 18 century, which was very informative. Lots to see inside. Afterwards you should go to the terrace next to the Dom for a grand view of the city and the Elbe.... More

This castle is worth a visit. Approach it from the park and the path on the hill side for great views. If you're lazy, there is an elevator from the parking on the Meisastraße. The castle stood empty between the move of the elector residence to Dresden and the use of the castle as the porcelain factory. The location was... More

This castle tour was fantastic, well thought out, displays were informative, the free audio guide really interesting, the experience of skating through the Great Hall in felt slippers a little unusual. Recommend this experience highly.

Amazing gothic palace with XVIII and XIX additions. The building contents some of the most beautiful and complex vaults of the late gothic. The exhibition is marvellously fixed: large explanations, well designed panels, interesting objects... One of the finest exhibitions I remember...

The beautiful castle is not only scenic but is completely accessible for a whole host of disabilities. The audio guide will show you around thoroughly. A great day in which you can spend hours

The castle stands above the pretty little town of Meissen and there are a couple of footpaths that wind there way up to the castle square. We didn't have time to see the inside but enjoyed wandering around the outside and taking in the views.

This is the oldest castle in Germany. It commands a beautiful view from atop the hill in Meissen. I used the audio guide which was okay but could be more inclusive. At least many of the displays not included with the guide were in English. The rooms are beautifully painted and designed. The displays were all interesting. Make sure to... More

Visited the castle during a walking tour of Meissen and found its history fascinating. The courtyard was being set up for some kind of concert so it's obvious how popular it is.

This castle is promoted as Germany's oldest residential castle and has been lived in since the 15th century. The inside rooms show exceptional architectural design with lots of arches and pillars. The English language audio is essential to fully understand the history of the castle and the purpose of each room.
