A museum of two halves. The museum of the more ancient history of Leipzig is on the first floor, and tastefully laid out in the beautiful old building. The more modern, and turbulent history of the area is on the second. Incredibly well laid out...More

This museum located in the old city hall spans the entire history of Leipzig. The historical lower level is attractive and sets the stage. The modern era upstairs is packs a big impact. The story of Leipzig represents a microcosm of this part of germany....More

I enjoyed the first floor of this museum, starting just after 1000 AD when Leipzig is first mentioned. There were interesting examples of artifacts, plus historical explanations. It didn't wow me, but was good. The second floor is for me where this museum earns it's...More

Wonderful museum! Shaped from the municipal hall in a museum, gives the chance to listen to some of Bach's pieces. On top of that, Leipzig city's miniature and more info about Leipzig's history. Oh, I was forgetting about Wagner's piano, very nice one

Top marks for the 'modern' history section on the upper floor. Brilliant presentation with full English translation. Well done Leipzig.

Truly amazing and so glad it never got knocked down. The landmark which was built between 1898 and 1913 is just awesome. There are currently some works being done on the outside which I believe will also incorporate an ice rink but don't let that...More

A wonderful museum. It said local history but it was a world history review with a wall depicting each year and the notable events of that time. Loved it and really worth the visit!

This is a great museum located in the old town hall on the main square, so seeing inside the old building is a bonus. The first floor is a good, traditional, city museum - the history of Leipzig through the centuries, with a lot of...More

There is so much to do in Leipzig it would be easy to miss this museum but to do so would be to miss out on history. The first floor is pretty much on a traditional level and told of the city over the centuries....More
