This is a wonderful monument Martin Luther. All of Dresden is pretty, but this one has a historical importance as well as the church nearby. We enjoyed Dresden, you could probably see this city in about 3 hours. (Good day trip)

The statue of Martin Luther is impressive, especially as it stands in front of the Frauenkirche which was totally destroyed during the Dresden bombings (and only rebuilt since the fall of the Eastern Block). It's a busy area with a lot of buskers.

the Luther statue right outside the Frauenkirche seems to make a statement - especially since both had been toppled during the 19445 bombing o Dresden

Martin Luther got his start here and found a protective patron to listen to his new ideas. Today students and tourist gather to take photos at the base of the monument.

Our tour guide showed us a picture from 1945 showing the statue with the Frauenkirche ruins behind. It was so moving to see the same view with the marvelously restored church behind. Suggest Googling “Martin Luther Frauenkirche” before your visit.

When the Frauenkirche was destroyed in a bombing raid in February 1945 the statue apart from the base was also damaged. Both the church and the Luther statue have now been beautifully restored.

We missed this statue the first time through the square as we entered from the river side and jumped into Frauenkirche to avoid the rain. Later that night, we were passing through the Christmas Market and happened upon the statue. Night time or not, still...More

This statue stands across from the entrance to "die frauenkirche ". You will notice it when you are on the square. A statue like others you will find in Germany all over.

What a tremendous location for this statue - in front of the magnificent Frauenkirche. The location is further enhanced by the fact that it is located in the Neumarkt Square. The statue of this 'amazing monk' and the surrounds in which it is located provide...More
