Amazing place with great architecture. We also saw the Christmas markets which were so beautifully decorated. So much history and culture in this beautiful city.

We loved this city… it has so much history & culture and the architecture is incredible. The horse & carriage ride around the square was neat.

A beautiful square, lots of places to eat and watch the world go by, shops too. Amazing that the buildings are all quite new, all built since the reunification of Germany.

We enjoyed watching Dresdeners go about their daily work and shopping while pausing ourselves for a bit of sustenance at tea time.

It is fair to say that this square has emotion attracted to it when you read the plaque about the cremations in WW2. I enjoyed a drink here but found it lacked soul, but had a kfc, a Starbucks, a Mcdonalds. Worth a walk through and sure a totally different experience at Christmas.

A large open square, close to everything in the historic district. After the firebombing in 1945, almost 7,000 corpses had to be burned on this site (to avoid disease). Today, if you look carefully, you will see a sort of plaque in the ground commemorating that awful event. It is near the subway station.

A beautiful old part of this city to be enjoyed strolling the shops or dining in one of the many restaurants or taking a horse and carriage ride. The Holy Cross Church dominates the square and is worth a visit. The Medieval market and Christmas Market gluhwein stalls were still active when we visited. A great way to enjoy a few hours exploring the area.

Spent several evenings here wandering the many lanes of vendors in the annual Christmas Market. This was one of the best we saw while touring the many markets of northern Germany. This square in the "old town" area is very near the Frauenkirche, Kreuzkirche and easy walking distance to the Zwinger.

Very busy square where the Christmas market was setup. We watched the tree lighting which was great. Lots of food options and very fun. Don’t miss while in Prague.

How far is this square from the train station? Any recommended hotels on/near Square?

It is about a 15 to 20 minute walk. It is flat but through the city much of it is a pedestrian area of stores including a Holiday Inn Express. An Ibis hotel is next to the Markt also.
