The Turkish Chamber is a part of the Dresden armoury that collects together military items of the near east. The history of the collection dates back to a period when the Saxons first came into contact with the Ottomans and their equipment would've been considered exotic. That's not meant to be an insult, of course, the Turkish Chamber has a fine collection of Ottoman and the Middle East armour and weaponry and I especially enjoyed learning about Zulfiqar of Muhammed.

I visited the Turkish Chamber as part of the combined ticket for Residenzschloss Museum and it's well worth it, especially with an audio guide.

The Turkish Chamber / Türckische Cammer was beyond my expectations. As the Saxon elector, August the Strong loved the orient and as a result sent members of his staff on shopping expeditions to Istanbul. So, the exhibition displays magnificent Ottoman tents, equestrian equipment like saddles, helmets and weapons clothing. It is part of the Dresden Armoury and is breathtaking.

We very much enjoyed the display of Turkish tents, weapons, equestrian equipment and clothing. The beautifully embroidered tents were particularly impressive.
