About
The "Ludwigskirche" in Saarbruecken is a lutheran (protestant) church, built in 1775 by prince Ludwig of Nassau. It is one of the most important and prominent baroque churches in Germany, impressively situated amidst a place and surrounded by baroque city palaces. The church features a stunning white interior and a pulpit and organ in its centre. The church is open every Tuesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Groups are asked to arrange their visit through the congregational office.

The Ludwigskirche forms a nice ensemble with the rest of the square. Combined with the nearby castle this is the city's main cultural-historical attraction. Protestant baroque is a quite unique style, somptuous but not as lavish as catholic baroque.

This is a very beautiful church, especially at night. I could just stare at it! And the bells played a Christmas chime.

Looks very Baroc style from outside, inside all in creamy white. Quite special. Certainly it is a must to visit in Saarbrücken.

This is an evangelical Church built in the old town (Altstadt) of the city. Some of the reconstructions done after World War II still can be seen in the outside. From the inside remains a mix between the sober decoration of the protestants and the elegance of the pre-reform church buildings

Great place to see the history and enjoy in silence. I really loved the statues and the interior. Exterior is also beautiful, the church itself is amazing :)

This building looks great from the outside. We took lots of pictures of the building and the square. Inside thought is very austere, with its stark white walls and little ornamentation..

The pictures on Tripadvisor show everything.

Inside, the church is taken all-white. Interessting not only for it's interier, it's part of the baroque ensamble of Saarbrucken, built by the father and son architects Stengel. The buildings around the place are alos part of this ensamble, noe used by the state officials of Saarland, then they was palaces, and the Baroque Palace of Saarbrucken (placed over the medieval Burg of Saarbrucken, with it's garden and th Old Bridge of the Saar river) and this Ludwigskirche are two poles of the Stengel's ensemble.

Worth a visit!
