If you like see on the top, this place is your place. You have to park on the road, be careful, and walk up the stairs, wood stairs, be careful too. The stairs could be wets.

It is a fun drive through windy streets then forest to see St. Mary's Column (1866) above Trier. There is a short hike up from the road and then a magnificent panoramic view of Trier and the Moselle Valley.

But if you don't cross the river you won't have the opportunity to climb it and and see the apparently wonderful view. I had no car and too little time to cross. This statue, 40 meters high and hard to miss, was erected in the...More

Visited couple of times with different people, this place offer the best view to the city. You can choose if you go up by car, by bike or if you prefer a nice walk uphill through the forest.

A prime vantage point to look over the city on the other side of the river. The monument is perched high on the hill offering magnificent views.

Saw it from a distance and was a bit surprised with such a statue on a mountain top. Didn't feel the need to go there and aparently that was a misjudgement.

A hire car and a glimpse from the other side of the River Mosel set us off on a journey to "find that hill". The views from the top are amazing. I don't really look at the history of such monuments, more the experience of...More

On my last day in Trier, I walked to the Mariensaule from the Altstadt. It took a while (especially since the shortcut I tried at first was blocked), but it was great fun to wander neighborhoods and make the climb on a quiet Sunday morning....More

Though this is accessible by bus the hike is lovely if you go through the hidden path which begins just a few meters to the right from the west side of Kaiser Wilhelm Brücke. This stone path takes you halfway up the hill, then you...More
