Fountain built in the 1960s made up of little people celebrating a festival (most likely Lent). It is set in a nice small plate with lots of benches and flowers. A relaxing spot to sit and just stare at this strange creation.

We stumbled across this interesting fountain by chance. Looks a bit of a mess from a distance but if you get up close you an see all the carnival characters that give the fountain its name. Well made and unique if not to everyone's taste. There are also one or two statues in the same area.

Built during the 1960s, the Mainz Carnival fountain is an imposing work, almost 9 meters high and made up of more than 200 bronze figures portraying characters who for the most part find confirmation in local legends. Rather than as a whole which is rather chaotic, it can be better appreciated by observing the individual details. The fountain is located in Schillerplatz, on the opposite side of the poet's monument.

The carnival fountain is located on Schillerplatz on the corner of Schillerstrasse and Ludwigstrasse. The monument is intended to symbolize the foolish season. After three years of construction, it was unveiled in January 1967. The fountain is a tower-like structure made of bronze, almost nine meters high, and is decorated with more than 200 bronze figures.

This beautiful and a bit bizarre fountain is a must see. I saw it on a bright and sunny morning, and there was a very visible rainbow formed from the water spray. I enjoyed walking around and noticing all the different characters on the fountain.

it is such a beautiful fountain... fun, creative, and full of stories! Here is a photo of its top part. Moreover, there are small statues near the fountain which are also nice.

There are SO many little figures and things to be found when watching the water spew out this fountain. Just a short walk away from the Cathedral. Definitely worth a quick visit.

This delightful fanciful sculpture is a symbol of Mainz. I consider it a must-see.

Weird looking fountain, not something I'd go out of my way to see but if you are in centre of Mainz you might give it a quick look.
