Hot rod tour Mainz 100 min

Mini hot rods are THE hype in Germany and have taken cities like Hamburg, Frankfurt or Berlin by storm within a very short time. They inspire and provide astonished looks wherever they appear, which also makes them the perfect advertising space for companies. Tourists queue up to experience the sights of Mainz on one of the most unusual city tours. And many Mainz residents have already succumbed to the HOTROD virus. The small, white cars (Mini Hot Rod) are also happy to be booked for company events, birthdays or hen parties and bachelor parties. One of the best activities in Germany now with us in Mainz.

If you come here by chance, it's ok. But don't come here on purpuse. It's not worth it. It's a strange fountain.

It doesn't look like much from the distance but on closer inspection you can see all the figurines depicting the carnival. It stands over 9 meters tall with over 200 bronze figurines, with some more nearby, a nice area to stop and relax on a hot day.. Do check it out , you won't be disappointed.

Tells a Story about the community. We saw several of the same type of sculpture in other places. Would be good for communities in the USA.

Out of the roughly 100 fountains in Mainz, this is the biggest and the most fun which is not surprising given that it it is in the centre of Schillerplatz, where carnival season officially kicks off each year. It's worth swinging by Schillerplatz to see it, especially if you have kids with you. Standing 8.5m tall, it has over 200 bronze carnival characters cavorting and water cascading and tumbling from all directions. It’s obviously fun for kids to choose a favourite figure but I found myself doing the same. I particularly liked the small boy carrying the moon and the stars on a platter on his head and also the child with a chicken on head and a rooster’s tail. We wondered what happened to him to turn him onto a half-chicken? Father Rhine is easy to pick out because he’s the one with a crown and his own mermaid. Other figures and creatures jut out at all angles with swords, cleavers, trumpets, and goblets and lanterns and wearing all sorts of hats. The large cream and salmon pink palatial house behind the fountain is the historic Osteiner Hof (1747-1752). The carnival is launched every year from its balcony. On the 11/11 an announcement from the balcony kicks it all off and when the clock strikes 11:11pm, the fun begins.
