Germany has many attractive and interesting old towns. This is not one of them. It is a pleasant area, full of shops, but no real historic structures. The city was almost totally destroyed in World War II, so there is no authentic Altstadt. It was...More

This is maybe my favorite place in Koblenz. This square is nice and you can take nice pictures. It is also full of history so be sure to check out while you visit!

I found it quite by accident via the Jesuite gasse which looked quaint. The buildings by themselves are not that impressive, but the ambiente of the square is quite inviting.

Worth seeing as part of a comprehensive walking tour of Koblenz, this square has little to offer on its own.

Surrounded by historic buildings and populated by sculptures, this plaza is a quiet respite from busier parts of the city. The city hall is located here too.

Walking around Koblenz we came upon this square. There were shops and restaurants and beautiful architecture.

With a long history as an important military and defence location this city still has remnants of fortifications and palaces visible. The college built by the Jesuits is still in use today - part of it as a college and the rest now houses the...More

Koblenz ( On the way to Cologne from Mainz ) (7 Replies)
We will be visiting to Koblenz from Mainz by the KD Rhine Cruise and getting down around 2.30 PM. We would like to cover Deutsches Eck ,Basilica of St. Castor,Jesuitenplatz ( to see the "Schaengel fountain") , Ehrenbreitstein by cable car and ( only if time permits Schloss Stolzenfels) before the sun sets ( around June 26th ) and then head to Cologne. We do have a Eurail pass. From the Rhine cruise drop off point ( which we don't know where ?) is all the destinations are close by and walkable...More

Jesuitenplatz is the center of the old city (approx. 500 m). Similar distance from there to the train stop Koblenz Stadtmitte (only served by regional trains). To...More
