We visited the fortress on a combined family ticket with the cable car, which was great value. We were given a map of the site in English, which was useful as most of the info in the fortress is only in German. The underground display though that tells the history of the site in sounds and moving pictures is also... More

There was something in this day for all 4 children and 4 adults. We took the train from Wittlig to Koblenz then walked down through the bustling town to the rivers to get the cable car up to the fortress. The cable car is fantastic (remember to get tickets in the Doppelmeyer office beforehand). The fortress is imposing and very... More

There is lots to see and do at this museum and you definitely need a full day to see it all. The photography exhibition is brilliant. I'd definitely recommend this attraction to family and friends.

This Napoleonic-era fortress offers two good reasons to visit: as a superb example of 19th Century military architecture, and -- perhaps of interest to more travelers -- the unsurpassed views the fortress holds over the city of Koblenz and the confluence of the Rhine and Mosel rivers far below. There are a variety of ways to get up to the... More

We have visited similar fortresses in Britain and couldn't believe how enormous Ehrenbreitstein was. There are walks, views, museums and exhibitions the scale is incredible. I don't think we managed to explore the whole place in the couple of hours we were there. Well worth a visit especially if combined with a seilbahn ticket.

The fortress is on the cliffs high above the Rhein and Koblenz. It is easily reached by the Seiban-Koblenz cable car. An audioguide or guide is really useful to learn the history of the fort. Very interesting but not exceptional. Recommend if time permits. Special events and concerts are held at the fort. Hope this helps.

Even though it was raining , it's a great place to go. A must is the presentation showing the history. It is projected on the excavation walls in 4 languages. There are also another section displaying artifacts from the area dating back to the Bronze and Roman ages.

One of the most beautiful fortresses I have ever seen. When you are there it simply demands respect from you with all its history and the wars it has endured. You will just love it.

We took the cable car from downtown to the fortress, nice views crossing the Rhine River. Tickets are €12 combi with admission to the fortress. Worth every penny. There are exhibitions and museums on top and the view over the city, deutsches Eck und Mosel und Rhein are fantastic.

This is a festung or fortress in every sense of the word, built in the heady days of empires it certainly appears to bring history to life, one can only imagine what it was like in its garrison days. You can with a little imagination plunge yourself back in time when the troops were assembling in the massive parade ground.... More
