I think that the Zoo Wuppertal is ne of the nicest zoos in Germany. You can see that the animals are well taken care of and the overall setting is really nice for families. Only downside: you have to walk up quite a few hills to see everything.

This zoo in Wuppertal is so amazing with a range of different animals, some big, some cute and some small. You should visit here with the tickets being very cheap.

Perhaps the best thing is the beautiful hillside setting, requiring some rather steep climbs at points, including a 250-meter climb up to the entrance from the elevated monorail stop. On a 2-hour mid-afternoon visit, I was able to see close up large quantities of flamingoes, monkeys, lions, tigers, leopards, elephants, snakes, penguins, polar bears, and many others. The lions and... More

When you enter, ask for a combi ticket. So you can also go later on the train tracks. My wife and I had fun in that. But about the zoo itself, very nice animals, big and spacious. It is on the mountain, so bring your climbing shoes :) And you can sit in the shade or walk close to the... More

I was so excited during my whole time in the Zoo! It was the first time I saw polar bears and penguins, and they really looked happy and interested in people that were looking at them! :) All the animals look generally well taken care off and they really have a lot of space so when the crowds get too... Wuppertal Zoo has a very unique layout due to the numerous small hills in the very picturesque large area in which it is situated.Apart from the landscape the very varied selection of animals is of great interest among other reasons for the breeding programme for endandered and rare species. The new building programme where the animals can now live in a... We came to the zoo as part of our wonderful trip to Cologne. We arrived here on the schwebebahn which is a novel way of getting about the town. We got off at the Zoo-Stadion stop which is only 400 yards from the zoo, just past the football stadium. It is €14.50 to enter and well worth a visit. The... More

I'm not a huge fan of zoo but this one is worth a visit. The place is well preserved and animals are well kept. It is fun to climb up and down the hill while visiting several animals including polar bear, penguins, great apes and lions. The Wuppertal town is within an hour from Düsseldorf or Dortmund. They have one... More

The Zoo is nicely planned where the animals and birds are well positioned for an easy tour. The Polar Bears, Sea Lions, Apes, Penguins, Elephants, Lions etc. seem well settled here. We loved the Lion’s pseudo natural habitat, it was a fresh sight. The only Restaurant here offers a good variety of food items to choose from with good seating... More

This was the place where my parents did take me when I was a little boy. A lot of things have been modernized. I was impressed to see the place after 48 years again. The zoo was founded on 5 December 1879. The central building opened together with the zoo itself on 8 September 1881. It featured 34 animals, among... More
