A small but well taken care of zoo. We loved the woonland and hilly aspects. A nice few hours to spend in lovely surroundings

It's in a very nice location ( if you can manage the steep hilly terrain) but like so many tourist attractions in Germany , looks a bit run down and scruffy! There are a lot of really big , purpose built enclosures but most have either far too few ( or no animals ) in them!

Serene place, filled with trees and animals. It gives you the opportunity to spend good family time. Qualifies as a mini hike too since it needs a lot of walking to be done to cover the entire area. Best time to visit: when cloudy or cool

We went to the zoo with a band of three kids - 9, 11, 13. The zoo is in a very nice part of Wuppertal where there are plenty of Jungendstil houses. The zoo itself is set in the woods on a hill, making it quite pretty. There are plenty of animals to see - we found them happy and healthy! In particular there was a spider monkey that was jumping around and showing off to our amusement. The bird part was excellent - really neat. The penguin part was superb as you could go underneath and look at them swimming around.
