Well worth a visit !

We went with local friends to the Nature Exhibition. It's fascinating - over two huge floors then visit the world on floor 3 and the roof for spectacular views.

This is a great example of reusing a building. The current exhibit is based on photography of animals, insects, and plants. Beautiful pictures and even better films on nature. The third floor "earth" show if fabulous. Sit in the gallery and watch the earth rotate. Take the glass elevator to the 10th floor of the gasometer and watch the earth... More

When you want to escape the hectic CentrO, there is a possiblility to see art and get away from all this. This is an old gasmeter with art in it. It is very nice and you can get a good look of the surroundings from the roof.

From the top of the Gasometer one gets an excellent view over the densely populated Ruhr area. Inside there was a nice light show, and at the bottom levels there was an exhibition of copies of famous paintings, with descriptions/explanations. I believe this exhibition was temporary. A good way to preserve industrial heritage.

The projection exhibit in the large hall is amazing, just sit there and relax for 10 minutes or 3 hours watching the images change, very relaxing. The trip to the top of the gasometer was also amazing whole the projection went on.

The Gasometer itself is quite impressive. Nowadays is being used for expositions. The last one that we saw was very interesting. On the interior of the gasometer they have installed a light show which is very notable. You can grab a couch and relax enjoying the light show and the music. Very recommended visit.

Splendid view over the Ruhr area. Nice lightshow. Just relax in one of the fatboy. Close your eyes & enjoy. Just one tip to the organizing team... @gasometer: add some colors to the show.

We spent a week in the Ruhr area visiting historical sites and for us this was the highlight and an object lesson in the creative use of old industrial buildings. The bottom of the old gasometer has been turned into two floors housing art exhibitions - the one when we visited was entitled ' The Appearance of Beauty'. This was... More

This is a renovated industrial size gas container/holder, that spans 100 metres high. A very good initiative to reuse an industrial site, and create an exhibition space on many levels. The entry fee of €9 per person is not exorbitant, considering what we saw. Der Shone Sheine (the beautiful illusion).. a collection of world famous paintings, printed onto glossy boards,... More
