The building was totally smashed during the last war, but some clever folks rescued and hid the wooden panels from the court room before the bombing. The room was rebuilt and panels put up again to remember history.

Please see my review of the Rathaus in which the Peace Hall is located. Read a short summary of the Treaty of Westphalia, first. Fabulous wooden carving. This interior was stored away during WW2, so it was not destroyed by the bombing that destroyed the Rathaus.

Although much of Muenster was destroyed, this hall survived intact. For a small fee they play a nice audio narrative of what the hall was used for and its place into history of the 30 years war. This can be in one of several languages so be sure to ask. The wood carving is amazingly meticulous. There is also a gold plated drinking urn shaped like a rooster and a petrified hand which was used to show the seriousness of the court.

An important "document" of European history was written here. It is only one room you can visit, but worth the while.

Smaller tha I expected, but nevermind, easier to comprehend. Very nice picture gallery on the walls of the people present at the time. And the wooden stuff, carvings all over the hall, impressive, must have taken time (as someone did have the power to commit others to do so). Remember the similar thing in Osnabrück.

A great place to visit this place to remember the Muenster Peace Agreement in 1648.
If you like European history you have to go to visit this place.
