In the Cathedral is preserved the Golden sculpture of the Madonna, the patron Saint of the diocese. It is a figure, 74 cm high, made of poplar wood and covered with gold leaf. It was made during the Abbey of Matilda.
In the Cathedral there is a monumental seven-candle, which also belongs to the era of the abbess Matilda. Its height is 2.26 m, width — 1.88 m.
Also kept in the Cathedral child crown of Otto III, four crosses, which belonged to Ottoneum, the sword of Attonito, which according to legend was killed the Holy martyrs Cosmas and Damian, the manuscript is Carolingian, the sculpture of St. Roch of the XVI century.

Quite a nice treasury
Feb 2015
This treasury is quite nice. Besides the regular often old churchly items, there are some special relics of saints, and a special crown and sword.

What a surprise
Oct 2014 • Couples
We didn't expected that in the middle of the indsutrial Ruhr region we will find such a museum. Usually we don't visit the museums of the church, we know pretty weel, that they have a lot. This time we made an exeption and it was worth to do. Wonderful golden, silver pieces, some were many hundred years old, excellent. My wife told me how modern were the 16 brooch made around 1400 witrh gold, email, silver, and gemstones.

Great to see all that gold
Nov 2014 • Friends
This is a fantastic tourist attraction because the Catholic church often fails to let you know just how much great stuff they have. Well here it is, there's loads of stuff. It's a real eye opener. There's gold, silver and trinkets, decoration, amazing! Some of this stuff is really old and it would be a great story to find out where all of this came from. But I was just awe stuck haha literally by all that gold and treasure.

Historically important
Sep 2014 • Couples
What little there is to see has an important historical value. In this case a crown and sword from 1000 AD. The buildings have been heavily restored from the bombing. If visiting Essen its worth popping in and spending half hour looking at the objects and visiting the cathedral.

Beautiful cathedral
Oct 2013 • Business
Lovely old cathedral with sense of history surrounding the grounds and in the chapel. The golden Madonna is gorgeous and worth finding - it is located in a side alcove of the main cathedral.
