Best to visit at night. Industrial park is lit only on Fri-Sat-Sun, so best to visit this art installation at night. We were there at 11pm, it never closes I think. Lights are white but structure is uber cool. Highly recommend. This is why we went to Duisburg!

🇩🇪 Sehr schöne Sehenswürdigkeit im Duisburger Süden. Sollte man besichtigen, wenn man in der Nähe ist. Abends noch viel schöner. Kann man öfter besichtigen, immer wieder toll.
🇬🇧 Very nice sight in the south of Duisburg you should visit if you are in the area. Much nicer in the evening. Can be visited more often, always great.

Saw pictures of this online, and thought that this looked like a really cool place to visit - and when we realized that this was close to Dusseldorf Airport, our mind was made up. Got up early on a Sunday on our last morning of our German vacation (just prior to our flight out) and plugged in our GPS unit with the address, and off we went. It's about a 20 -25 minute drive from the airport, in a quiet area south of Duisburg. The site appears to be a reclaimed industrial area built on a hill, with one side overlooking the Rhine and a large power plant, and the other the countryside.
Basically, this is a large roller coaster like staircase that you can climb (there are panels that stop you from the looping portion). It is indeed very cool, and makes for some great pictures. We scrambled up and down the staircase (and some of our group did admit to vertigo when climbing around). We parked on the street, and it is then a short hike from there up the hill to the staircase, and there are benches placed around the sculpture to sit and enjoy the view. It's a fun place to take a family and teens as it is a different kind of sightseeing stop ! I've read that it is lit up at night, and would probably be a very striking view then....
Not much in the immediate surrounding area that we could tell, but it was very early on a Sunday that we visited.

Well, it's worth seeing but quite strange. The area around is a bit scary at night, we passed several prostitutes in the street. The path to the roller coaster is not lit, and is quite ominous. We are glad we went but recommend going in the daytime instead.

It looks like a walkable roller coaster, naturally without looping. It is quite Ok but somehow it lacks an attraction.
For the residents, it was certainly the best thing you could do with this industrial wasteland.
But, there are no toilets, no refreshments nearby. However, this is the free admission

First walking roller coaster we have been on! My teenager and 11 year old enjoyed running through it. Great place for photos too. Pity there is nothing else around it. For the older folks, do note that there is a hill to walk up to get to it. It's about a 10 - 15 mins walk up. My mum and mum-in-law also didn't attempt to walk on the roller coaster after the long climb up the hill.

Fun, free, family-friendly, outdoor activity. It was a great way to spend some time outside on a beautiful, warm autumn day. I would recommend a visit time of 1-2 hours, but you can always make it longer if the weather is nice and take a picnic with you. The grounds are wonderful for enjoying a picnic.

It's a breathtaking view when you reach the top I must say. You can either climb up the hill to reach it or riding a bike. It's a must see in Duisburg!!

This is an unusual, interesting, if a little pointless attraction. Basically a weird set of steps to walk on that looks like a rollercoaster from afar. Pleased to have visited it however.

Better than what we'd thought it would be. Easy to get the 903 tram down there and back. Its free, not many people around. Nice view of surroundings albeit the view is quite industrial.

How can I go from dusseldorrf
Ujjwaljoshi1990

Hi Divya, you can first go to Duisburg Hbf and from there you can take Metro 903 towards Mannesmanntor 2. Just get off in "Tiger + Turtle" station. From there you can already see that monument in your left. From there you have to walk around 15 minutes and then you are there. Have fun!
