Here you can spend a nice day/night and that without entrance fee. If you are free from giddiness, you can climb up to the top of the blast furnace (approx. 80 meters) and enjoy the fantastic view of the surrounding area.
Hobby photographers get their money's worth here, motives at every corner in this former steel mill.
In the twilight the whole charm with special lighting comes to the fore, guided or also introduced inspections are also possible in the dark and maybe you are lucky and you can enjoy a wonderful sunset on top of the blast furnace. A snack is also possible. Diving in the gasometer and climbing in the former bunkers is unfortunately reserved for club members.

This was my first time there, just to check it out and maybe take some pics, since I like industrial settings.
It is a huge area with many industrial objects or relics from a former area, now mostly taken over by nature, which makes it‘s charm, as it is a great mix.
It also was won back by fauna and is a nature park with some rare species.
They arrange many events, which people love.
I just went for a stroll in that huge area and had a great time, and took many cool pics.
I will go again, if I am in the area.
Cool place!
It was possible to parke nearby for free.
Entrance was free and there are benches for a picknic or to rest and some public toilets, which were actually clean.
There is actually an app which one can download to check out sights in this industrial park or organize the walk, called Lapano.

This park is impressive, especially for industrial heritage aficionados. It is a pleasant facility, but do not go when it is raining. The stairs are dangerous when wet. Do not forget to eat at the restaurant at the park. Good food. Good price. Great staff.

An old steel plant converted into a park...A nice idea, but if you are not interested to this sector you will get a bit bored.

This has got to be one of the most unusual attractions in Europe. It’s perfect for a sunny day climbing right to the top of a disused steel work s and the views are well worth it when you finally reach the top. To top it off you can reward your self with a beer and there’s also a nice restaurant on sight.

Not sure what we expected but this place blew us away.
Amazing blend of nature and industrial landscape.
We stopped on the way somewhere, just to fill in a bit of time but this gas made me want to visit more industrial / historical places in Germany's Ruhrgebiet.
The scale of this place has to be seen to be believed. Loads of information on boards, some in English. And all really accessible: you can go inside, climb stairs, touch things. Fantastic.

A fantastic use of derelict industrial site, which nature is gradually reclaiming. It's been turned into an amazing park with viewing platforms, restaurants, walkways, gardens, climbing walls, bike hire, guided tours etc. We happily spent most of the day here exploring, and didn't manage to cover all of it. We worried that our teens would be bored, but they enjoyed it just as much. Only drawback is that it's relatively inaccessible by public transport unless you're an experienced German city traveller (parking was free though)

If you like history, industrial aesthetic, high places or just bizarre landscapes, this place is for you. It takes about 30 - 40 minutes to get here by public transport from the central station, and it's well worth the trip. The Industrial park is huge, and you can easily spend 2 -3 hours just wandering around taking in the sites and reading the information panels scattered all around, this place has so many "secret" passages and corridors, that it is exciting just to try and figure out is this one particular walkway is going to end behind the corner or take you to a whole new unexplored area of the park. You can climb up to the top of the great huge smeltery ( in winter the walk is closed ) using the breath catching metal stair case ( quite safe! ) and the views from there are worth the effort. If possible i would recommend seeing the park in the late afternoon, when the sun is setting, the sun makes it particularly dramatic, and with the dark, the colorful and tasteful lighting turns on all around, making everything even more impressive. The park is also home to a biggest outdoor rock climbing center in Germany ( i think ) and you can watch people be spider for a bit, or take a rest in the local cafe, with tables inside and outside, clean, free public toilets available on site. Great place, for individuals, friends and families, deffo recomend!
