Couldn't quite fathom why this was rated the third best thing to see in Dusseldorf, but, nonetheless, I happened upon it by chance and spent a moment with it, before continuing to explore.

Amazing monument close to the wheel. The longer you look at it, more details you'll appreciate about its history and what represents

Монумент связанный с получением Дюссельдорфом статуса города и отражает историю связанную с этим событием. В интернете это описано достаточно подробно. От себя добавлю, что детали памятника тщательно проработаны и его интересно рассматривать. The monument is associated with obtaining Dusseldorf city status and reflects the history associated with this event. This is described in sufficient detail on the Internet. I would like to add that the details of the monument are carefully worked out and it is interesting to consider it.

I was there. Actually the sculpture is nice, but it is always dirty and I cannot say that was really worth to see.

Commemorating the bloody Battle Of Worringen in 1288 when Dusseldorf was granted its rights as a city the Stadterhebungsmonument was the work of sculpture Bert Gerresheim and was unveiled in 1988 ,700 years after this momentous and terrible battle.
The sheer detail of this monument is amazing ,it shows the slaughter ,terror and rage of close up hand to hand fighting ,its one of the most stunning monuments I've ever seen ,never tire of seeing this monument on any trip I take to this city on the River Rhine.
The Stadterhebungsmonument is easy to locate and Burgplatz and is most definitely well worth checking out if your wandering around the wonderful Old Town ( Altstadt ).

It is worth to stop and study its details. Unfortunately, unless you study in advance, you will probably miss the context.

A monument erected to the city in honor of it's medieval history tucked in a corner in a square. A tour will include this, and the history it represents.

It's definitely worth to have a look at this.
On first sight on might just walk by, but the longer one looks the more details are revealed. I always challenge friends to find the mustard jar, the gun ("what does not fit at all with respect to the time displayed?") and so on.
HIstory...even without having knowledge about details...is "nicely" compressed and illustrated.

The city survey monument is a memorial to commemorate the granting of city rights to Düsseldorf . It is located on the Joseph-Wimmer-Gasse corner of Müller-Schlösser-Gasse in the old town. The plastic was made by Bert Gerresheim . It was built in 1988 to celebrate the 700th anniversary. The motifs include the Battle of Worringen , the sealing of the city survey certificate and the elevation of the parish church dedicated to St. Lambertus to the Canon Foundation.
