We've seen a few townhalls in our travels and this is probably not one of the most spectacular ones. The building looks dated from outside with very little happening outside the area. There are no cafes or food options either.
This concert hall is something special. It was a planetarium, you still feel the round shape of the building. But it is now an excellent concert hall, with superb concerts. We visited already several time and we love it.

This concert hall gives the right atmosphere for any classical piece. Watching the Orchestra of the Robert Schummann School was brilliant - I don't think any professional orchestra could have done a better job.
The last thing I expected was culture shock.
I turned up to a conert starting at 11am on a Sunday morning expecting a very moderate crowd - but this is Dusseldorf where they do things their way. The hall was 90% full.
