WOW so big so majestueux, the work to it. It make you realise, how the catholic religion was 300 years ago. But as well the money the religion had to built something like that. But it sad to see those place empty now. A beautiful architecture.

Lovely old church was nice and cool inside after travelling around in the heat of summer.

It dates from the 13th century and is the oldest surviving building in Düsseldorf. Lots of statutes and unusual relics inside like those of St. Apolinarus.

Story about the crooked steeple was that when a young woman was going to be married, she lied to the priest and said she was a virgin and at that moment, the tower went crooked just like her lie! Legend says that the tower will straighten when a virgin is married in the church...still waiting!

In reality, the tower was crooked for a different reason. On one side of the steeple, the wood they used was wet, and as it dried, it warped, twisting the wood and one side of the tower!

During WWII, Düsseldorf was heavily bombed and the crooked steeple burned down. When the people of Düsseldorf were rebuilding after the war, they had the opportunity to make the tower straight this time, but surprisingly, they chose not to, and at great extra expense, told the architect to make it crooked in keeping with tradition!

St. Lambertus’ is such a beautiful church. So peaceful and still. The sculptures are mesmerizing and detailed that you catch yourself just looking at them. Well worth the time to stroll around.

It is one of the iconic places in the city. Right downtown. Don't miss it and check the statues that are right outside of the church

This was a very interesting church with a lot of relics inside. There was even someone there playing the massive pipe organ.

From the outside, this little church looks like most others. But on the inside it's rich with artwork and remembrances. Make sure to pick up a paper guide (published in multiple languages) inside the main door to the left. Then just pick a pew and soak it all in while reading about the church's rich history and great timeline through its artwork.

This was a surprise gem found on our stroll around town!

A big, impressive old building with wonderful stained glass windows. Interior a bit dark & Gothic, but imposing. Many interesting features and valuable works of art inside. Worth a look in.

Walking along Old town, we stumbled upon this church. The steeple is crooked for a reason. Inside the church, it is so serene with old wood carvings. Simply beautiful.
