Several restaurants and breweries; stores for everything (from knives to shoes). And a great place for a walk along the promenade, or to take a boat trip, or just sit in front of the Rhine river to enjoy the view and a nice beer. We usually walk from the Maritime Museum tower to the TV Tower locate in the Media... More

Imagine an old german town full of new energy at every hour and everyday. No matter if it is monday or friday night, at altstadt everywhere is always busy all the time. In the morning, for instance, you can go for a easy shopping and then for a calm beautiful stroll by the Rhein. In the afternoon, as soon as... More

I really liked the Altstadt, people were happy, easy to find good watering holes and surprisingly clean considering it' s a bar area. Lovely next to the Rhine, the square is charming and the buildings beautiful.

We enjoyed the winding streets, old buildings, and charming shops. Hinkle's Bakery was particularly good. We could have spent a lot more time there.

Most of Dusseldorf was destroyed in WW2, but the precious few buildings left have been restored and revitalized. Dusseldorf makes excellent use of it's waterfront for recreation and tourists. The Old Town ( Altsadt) has a restaurant and bar area that reminded me of Las Vegas, (yuk) but the waterfront was a delight.

Altstadt is a must see for historic buildings, cobblestone streets, and cultural events. About every month there is a fun and unique festival - New Year's Eve, carnival, dance festival, Christmas Markt... Easily accessible by taxi, tram, biking, walking. Plenty of diverse restaurants and lively day and night life! Fun for the whole family.

Due to the limited time we had I just pass the old city and had a glimpse of it. However, it was really nice and an eye opener on how the local government together with its people preserve the old city and make as the must see tourist destination in Düsseldorf. I wish we were having more time to meet... More

Took the train in from the airport. This place has great character and is a wonderful way to start or end you trip to Germany. The people were very friendly.

All very enjoyable. It gets very busy in the evenigns but most of the tiem everyone is peacable. Shame to see modern chains encroaching. The... More
