A Nice Walk Through Altstadt, Avoid the Tourist Traps

A nice walk but, alot of tourist traps. Several sights to stop and see along the way. I recommend either starting or ending at the Rhine

You can go there anytime, any season to get a local feel, by the side of Rhine river, with a relaxing atmosphere.

My hotel was located in the Media Hafen area of Dusseldorf so everyday I really enjoyed the walk along this promenade to get to the old town. The views of the Rhein, the tower and the bridges are fantastic of a day and even better of a night. There is a few restaurants on the promenade closer to the old... More

Very nice area for a walk, there are Rhein cruises available in the summer but not at this time of year. Lovely bars and cafes along the promenade.

When we come to Düsseldorf, we always come here to have a bite to eat, sit with a glass of wine or beer and watch the world go by as the barge traffic moves up and down the river. Here you can watch the sun set over the water and during the day, feel it on your face. If it's... More

I have been there last January, it was cold but I had a chance to take some lovely pics. As someone coming from a place where the beauty of beaches and lakes is the identity of my country, so I didn't find the Rhein as unique place but for the rest of people, it's definitely.

A nice promenade, which I wouldn't start all the way at the beginning (closer to the high pointy tower), especially if cold in the winter. Nice shots can be taken between the trees on the walk.
