This market is usually great. But seeing how the COVID situation is being handled is just scandalous. People without any social distancing measures, no masks, etc., really?!?

it's a bit touristic as it doesn't just sell market stuff however it's worth to go even as someone here. they offer many good things. and it's always nice to show your friends from outside. it definitely has a German market flair.

We always enjoy goo through open air markets. This one has a cover over most of the stalls which would be nice in bad weather. Lots of food stalls but also other products such as wood items, soap, etc.

A very small street market in the center of Düsseldorf not too many stalls witch local fresh food from farmers. Very high prices. You can also eat outdoors. Nothing special.

I was walking around in Altstadt, meandering through its many alleyways, when I happen to chance into the Carlsplatz Markt. It's a hustle-bustle within a car park, that's now become a bunch of permanent stalls occupied by (what looks like) food trucks. You have a couple of Butchers (buy your meats and they'll cook your steak for you), several florists, a green grocer, stalls selling the various kitchen needs...and even a shoe repair shop (a Schumacher!).

What's especially interesting though, are the selection of many different food stalls -- Long lines in front of the German, Italian, Indian, Spanish, Middle-Eastern stalls. Several of the stalls also specialise in beverages, and again the lines were there too.

From the way many are dressed -- long-sleeved with ties, and quite a few in jackets -- this area is where the business people working in the vicinity come to have lunch. It was 12.40pm when I was there, and it was teeming with them -- obviously this is a happening lunch place.

If you feel like having good quality food outside, not having to pay a fortune and at least 15 options (4 Italians) to choose from at lunch time (dinner is only served at 2 or 3 locations) then you should make sure the Market at Carlsplatz is on your map. There is one Indian, one New York style health deli (Laura's Deli), one falaffel, vegetarian, pizzeria, 2 fish stands and one steak/hamburger stand. I have not tried the burgers but based on feedback from colleagues they are amongst the best in town, the stand always well visited. Rain/Snow are no impediment as the area is roofed. I would not recommend pruchasing vegetables or fruits at the market as compared to Turkish or REWE supermarkets they are quite expensive. If you fancy coffee and pastries you will find at least 2 French pastry stands on the market square and a number of other options in the vicinity. Enjoy and let me know if this comment was helpful!

The place is really small with few shops. I've been to many much more interesting and nice farmers markets and this is definitely not one of them!
