Not exactly a must when visiting Cologne but as it is such a walkable city it doesn’t hurt to check out! Their cartoonish appearances and our guide’s backstory for them really added to the charm. Cute little secret off the beaten path in Cologne.

We stopped by the statue as part of a walking tour of Cologne, but I honestly can't imagine wasting valuable sight-seeing time to see Tunnes and Schal. The statue is located in the corner of the plaza opposite the Church of St. Martin. Besides the...More

This is an odd statue that we came across. More interesting having read about it now on trip advisor, wish we’d known its name at the time!

These character statues represent the two sides of Cologne; the civilized and the barbarians; the good and the bad. Stand on the feet and be sure to rub the nose for good luck - or just because you should.

I came across these two fictional characters while on a brew house tour with friends. They have some funny stories, and of course if you stand on their feet and rub either of them on the nose, you are wishing for luck in your love...More

Tucked away near the Alter Markt, they are funny statues. Worth spending a couple of minutes there. More interesting is the high water marker on a pillar nearby which shows the extraordinary levels the Rhine has reached over the years.

Enjoyed reading about the story behind these statues, but did my own research as there was no information with these statues - a plaque of information next to these statues would be good for people like myself who weren't part of a walking tour. Off...More

We visited Tunnes & Schal as part of a walking tour. They're two charming characters from Cologne pop culture. You rub one's nose for love and the other's hand for wealth. Nice place to visit if in the area!

Great statutes which show Cologne to have a sense of fun. We saw these two statues on the free walk Cologne tour. The guide was fond of them and said he had hundreds of jokes about them - one originates from Cologne the other and...More
