Went to see the largest mosque in Germany yesterday(that’s what I read on the net). I absolutely fell in love with it. The design is very different, it was contemporary and very modern. I have not seen a mosque like it before. The colours were spot on; sea blue and touches of gold arabic on white walls, stunning. As expected in all mosques, it was tranquil and peaceful. Very beautiful and I would recommend people visiting this place. I am not just recommending it because I am Muslim myself, but the architecture and design is worth seeing. My pictures do not do it justice.

This mosque is somewhat remotely placed. From outside it has very different aspects dependant on from where you look. The inside is woth a visit. Walk up the stairs to reach the place in front of the entrance. Tere is an information desk on your left where they help you for the rules for your visit. Every day (I believe at 15:00) is an open tour through the internal. We were there to early for that and still got a chance to have a look on our own.
You will find a very transparent and friendly room for worship. The walls are either decorated with Arabic calligraphic art, or windows. The sun can enter from many angles and gives the room welcoming air and a lot of light. Balconies give the high main room additional structure.

Just check it out for its design - unexpectedly in the middle of a non-descript Cologne neighbourhood and with a pumpstation next to it : this biggest ( ? ) Mosque in Europe has not just money pumped into it, but also careful architects for the modern exterior, inner light experiences plus, f course, plenty of mosaiques. Staff was very friendly, covering veils vor visitors are asvailable, shoes go in proper lockers, not just standing around on the ground. Atmosphere is marvellous !

It's a Mosque which is a little controversial in that it is a big building and the organisation behind it DTIP may not have the best reputation but...I am glad to see a modern building like this in Cologne - Mosque or other.

Having spent a couple of years in Malaysia and enjoying the mosques there, it was lovely to visit this one and enjoy its design. Made very welcome to the mosque by the friendly people too.

Cologne Central Mosque was an extraordinary place of worship we passed as my twin brother Stephen and I walked down Venloer Straße.
A beautiful and modern place of worship that certainly catches the eye ,I would have loved to take a tour of the mosque but wasn't sure if I could but I love the look of this beautiful mosque, grand and modern architecture at it's best, made for some great photographic opportunities, easy to locate along Venloer Straße, most definitely well worth checking out if your in the area.

As a tourist to the city I found the mosque to be standing out as a monumental place and was pretty impressed with the structure and Turkish architecture

We were told that this is the largest Mosque in Europe. Either way, it's a very impressive building ... we didn't go inside as prayers were happening and we're not Muslims. The massing of structure is very impressive - curved concrete forms and lots of glass - not anyone's idea of a 'typical' mosque. Well worth the 20 minute walk from the Cathedral to see the building and then sit out in the lovely nearby park.

It’s the largest mosque in germany. I think the architecture is a little more modern that it should be for a mosque, but anyway i liked it

I will be arriving in Cologne airport at 2045 hr by Flixbus end of October. My flight to Istanbul will be at 0145 the next morning. That will be a 5-hour waiting time. Will that be enough for me to visit the Mosque and going back to the airport on time to check in and board my flight?
Bonjour,
