I did a very nice cruise through the Cologne and it provided some great historical insight about the city. The staff was really helpful and you can buy drinks, cofee and food during the cruise.

We took the KD cruise from Mainz purportedly to Koblenz yesterday. We purchased the trip tickets in the middle of our holiday and, once purchsed, noted that the receipt explicity says you MUST print the ticket and that electronic copies of the receipt will not...More

On a hot August Sunday afternoon in a touristy city like Cologne a trip on a large river boat seemed a great idea and indeed it was. When we bought the tickets at the kiosk the salesman advised us to get to the boarding stage...More

Yes, you can hop on and off at different stops. However, watch your time as the ships stop running and you could be stuck over night somewhere or you’ll need to catch a train back to where you want to be.

KD Cruise idea... and questions (12 Replies)
KD Day Cruises from Koblenz We are doing our advance planning on a trip to Europe next May. One segment of our trip requires train travel from Amsterdam (start of our trip) to Rothenburg, which looks like a 7 hour journey. To break up the 7 hour journey we are considering either an overnight stop in Koblenz or a KD day cruise from Koblenz. Can you give me an idea of the cruise travel times to the various stops between Koblenz and Mainz. We should be in Koblenz by 1pm. We would hope to...More

Thanks for the great ideas... I had a suggestion to include the segment from Bingen to Boppard, and to cruise downstream. We could easily take the train to Bingen, then cruise back to Boppard or Koblenz staying overnight.

You would be sailing the wrong way. The way to go is from the south to the north with the current. The best section is from Bingen to Boppard.
